Hello, I’ve just got my best mini about a month ago, and it’s been great so far. That being said, in the past week I’ve been hearing this sort or popping or cracking sound, similar to what you would hear if you had dust on a vinyl record and tried to play it. I haven’t heard it happen when the assistant is responding to me, but they don’t happen on a schedule or anything, more randomly. I’ve unplugged it and plugged it back in, rebooted it through the Home app, and tried plugging it into a different outlet. I’m pretty sure it’s not my wifi, and I’d like to avoid a factory reset if possible but I’m running out of options. Any help?

Hey everyone,
Our recent firmware update 3.73 has reached 100% rollout, and with it comes an update that should resolve the "popping noise" that many of you have described in this thread. If you are still experiencing this issue, please confirm that your devices and Google Home app are up to date. If the issue persists, please reach back out here with as much detail as you can provide and I'll make sure the team is aware.
Thank you all for the patience.
Kelan

Hi Muddi! Just wanted you to know that this issue is on Nest Audio aswell.

Hi ChrisAhlund, I can confirm that it is.

Hi all,
I've notice over the last few weeks my nest audio speaker start to pop or crackle and wondered if there was a way resolve this?
I've tried the usual reboot, check network and update home app but to no avail.
Please help as I hope it isn't a sign of the speaker starting to fail and eventually go bust!
Many thanks

Hello,
I bought a nest audio two weeks ago and the problem also happens to it. I hear a crackling sound every time I listen to music, it is very annoying. According to what I have read on the internet it is a hardware problem.
Could someone please help us?
11-19-2023 02:18 AM
Where did you read it was a hardware problem?

For me, there existed a period in time (before 5 or 6 months ago - can't remember exactly) where I didn't experience the pops. I use the Minis almost daily. When, the pops started, it exhibited on all of my Minis. The timeframe for me appears to be consistent with others are reporting on this board. I'm calling this a firmware issue.

@tsengf
I'd like to reiterate one last time that everything was fine until recently, and I also used the mini for about two years without any issue.
As mentioned earlier, it's essential to initiate a new thread. The Google forum support team is not obligated to respond once the original poster selects an "answer." You all need to understand this!
Persisting in expressing frustration with the hope of eliciting a solution or response has, obviously proven futile.
Personally, I find it not worth the hassle to proceed further. I only paid $10 for my mini, and I'll just live with this issue.
I won't be purchasing any Google products in the future; they've lost me as a customer...lesson learned!
My recommendation is for everyone experiencing this problem to begin their own separate thread.

I disagree!!! This TOPIC has a LOT of feedback! Creating a NEW thread was DONE in the past, and it breaks all the work we have done!
THIS THREAD is having visibility. LET IT BE!
You can do what i did... REPORT the thread to moderators to be marked as UNSOLVED.
A new thread could be also marked as answered with a stupid response...

Hi,
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

Hi Ticker,
Our team is already aware of this and currently investigating this issue. Since this is the same discussion, we'll move this conversation to the main thread and we'll continue to update it as soon as we have some news to share.
Best,
Dan

I'd like a refund on all 4 of my nest minis please. Cannot use them.

This is joke. All google says is “we are aware”, not sure what google expects with that.
All, just do what I did, switch brands. Google doesn’t care.

I'm using the Nest Audio and I am also having crackling and popping issues when streaming music to my Nest Audio. It does not matter if it's being casted or being played via the device. This has been going on for a few weeks and seems to have gotten worse as of late.

I'm just adding myself to this comment in the hope there are updates - my speakers have started doing it too. I usually listen to music to sleep but can't anymore as sometimes the random pop is so loud I have a mini heart attack! Hope it gets sorted soon.

It's been going on for months and Google seem no closer to fixing it unfortunately.
Normally use mine for the same thing too so I feel your pain.

Well, it has been around for 3 YEARS at least!
It could be fixed in the meantime and got reintroduced again... that's the only explanation! So, maybe there is a fix...

There is a strange popping sound every minute or so, sometimes random that is honestly quite loud. I play " white noise " during the night. It only happens when this is happening and not during anything else. I've tried restarting etc. I've put in feedback but honestly unsure why this happening as it's only started not long ago. This dosent happen on other Google devices.

Same problem here

I've had this problem for months and there are previous threads about it. They are aware. It's a widespread problem. I'm currently on firmware version 375114 and I haven't noticed popping sounds in a while. I could be wrong though. I'll keep listening...
Scratch that. Still popping on 375114.
10-29-2023 03:51 AM
I can confirm that i also have
System Firmware: 375114
Cast Firmware: 2.57.375114
10-29-2023 02:50 PM
How were you able to find the firmware and cast firmware versions? Please share.
10-29-2023 02:58 PM
Google Home App -> Tap on the DEVICE -> Access the configuration icon on the top (wheel) -> Device Information
10-31-2023 02:16 AM
Argh. I knew that. I rarely use the app.
And no. I don't think they care. Ralph is gaslighting you. That's my take.
11-07-2023 10:32 PM
I also have the same firmware and cast firmware on my Nest Mini... have been having this issue for about 2 months or more now and it's incredibly annoying as everyone has stated. Especially for sleep! I'm also someone who uses my music to sleep and the crackling and popping sound is unnerving when I'm about to fall asleep. I've stopped playing music on this thing because of it
10-17-2023 02:34 AM
So google told us on the 'strange popping sounds' thread (it was an agent called Muddi) that we should 'hang tight' and 'check back here' for updates. Now they have disabled the comments on that thread. Of course they have.
In my experience at least, the popping has never stopped.
Google, you ought to hang your head in shame. The speaker is not fit for purpose. Are you going to refund me? No, of course you aren't.

The previous topic on the subject has been closed. As of July there is acknowledgement by Google of the issue, but no solution:
I should add that for a few years, this has never been a problem. For me, it's a "new" issue. I must emphasize I have been using the same Nest Mini for YEARS without issue.
10-17-2023 02:50 AM - edited 10-17-2023 03:19 AM
Also experiencing this issue. Why is it taking so long to fix?
Given feedback several times now...anyone else feel like the whole give feedback thing is pointless?
10-17-2023 03:12 AM
Same issue here with my couple of nest audio paired, especially listening to spotify. I'm sending everyday the feedback "DHT3 popping sound on nest audio"...
10-21-2023 06:38 AM
Same, I have an older Google Mini and two Nest Minis and I've had them for years. This is something new that started happening just a few months ago.
10-21-2023 10:54 AM
Did support reach out to you after submitting the "GHT3 popping sound on Nest Mini."? I hope the DHT3 was a typo. They reached out to me and told me they're still investigating the issue. However, it's been two weeks now since the last communication with them.
10-21-2023 04:12 PM
Is there seriously no update on this? It's making my speaker unusable.
10-27-2023 01:19 AM
Love the gaslighting. Please delete your post especially since Google is now denying there is or ever was an issue @Muddi
10-29-2023 03:07 AM
Hey bot, why so quiet? What will activate a response from you?
10-29-2023 03:12 AM
LOL, it's not a BOT! Look at the profile... big interaction in posts...
10-29-2023 02:50 PM
@marcolopes @WhyWhy99 But her silence and responses sound like a bot or AI. Just saying.
11-19-2023 02:00 PM
I noticed this as well. It could be somehow related to the popping (firmware) issue many of us are also experiencing during playback.

Hello. Why does my Nest Mini speaker make popping sounds during music playback? I know this has been posted many times before but I haven't seen a satisfactory answer.

yep, same boat here. Its like static builds up then pops. You can turn off Ultrasound sensing which is meant to help, but i want that feature so why should i disable it, just get it fixed!
12-01-2023 04:02 PM
Turning off Ultrasound sensing resolves NOTHING!
