Struggling to get spotify to link to hub max

Struggling to get spotify to link to hub max. I've re-installed both spotify and the google home app on my mobile. Any other suggestions? Thank you!

Hello AK79,
 

That certainly hasn't been easy for you ― let’s try the steps below:

 

  1. Uninstall your Spotify app from your mobile device
  2. Link your Spotify account to your Google Home app
  3. Set it as the default music platform
  4. After you link it, you can now reinstall your Spotify app

Thanks Dan for checking. Yes, I did what you suggested just now and.....it worked!!  I cannot believe it was that easy. I've been on the phone to google support for several hours in the last week uninstalling and reinstalling over and over again, disconnecting wifi, factory reset home hub etc. 
 
I still don't understand why having the spotify app on my mobile prevents it linking it to the home hub but that doesn't matter as it works! Yeay, finally!

Actually, now I have your expertise available, do you know if my children can link their spotify accounts (kids 'clean' lyrics only) to the home hub too? Ideally I don't want them accessing my Spotify account. Do you know how I set this level of control?
