When I connect to my google home mini to my google home. It says the device is connected to a different user. Please factory reset it. I have already reset it. It works for a day and falls into same issue. Can you help me?

Also I need advice on which frequency to connect to (2.5 or 5 Ghz)

Hi Jumana1,

Thanks for posting in the community. I'm sorry you're having trouble setting up your Google Home Mini because it's saying it's connected to a different user. I understand how frustrating this can be, and I'm here to help.

To best assist you, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • Are you the only person with access to this Google Home setup?

  • Have you ever connected this Google Home Mini to a different Google account?

  • When you reset the device, are you performing a full factory reset using the button on the device?

  • After the reset, are you setting up the Google Home Mini in the same "Home" within the Google Home app?

  • Are you using a personal Google account (e.g., gmail.com) or a Google Workspace account?

  • Are you using a mesh Wi-Fi system or a single router?

  • Have you recently changed your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) or password?

  • How far is the Google Home Mini from your Wi-Fi router?

Regarding your Wi-Fi frequency: For a Google Home Mini, 2.4 GHz is generally sufficient due to its range. However, if your router is very close and there's significant interference on the 2.4 GHz band, 5 GHz might be a better option.

Regards,

Kevin
