Google maps still showing wrong arrival time!!!

I'm currently in Mexico where there has been approved to remove Daylight Saving Time.
My Lenovo Smart Clock is showing the wrong time (+1 hour), please update timezones or make a way to set up time manually.

Is driving me crazy having to remind myself that the clock is 1 hour ahead everytime I get scared that I maybe late for something.

Same problem! Please help!!!

There are MANY posts in this forum about the incorrect timezone for Mexico (and other parts of the world). Google Nest has acknowledged the problem but apparently does not yet have a fix.

Hi folks,

Thanks for bringing this up.

We're sorry to hear about this experience. There's an ongoing conversation referring to this issue. We'll go ahead and move this conversation to the main thread for updates.

Best,

Five minutes ago, I did this with my Google Chromecast 4K /  Google TV device.

1.- Check the time: It was OK

2.- Changed the time for the device to obtain the time from the network:  Got the WRONG time (1 hr ahead).  Also cheked that the time zone was correctly set, it was: Mexico City
3.- Changed back the time setting to manual and corrected the time.

4.- Checked if there was new firmware available, there was none and the device is on the latest available firmware.

5.- Rebooted the device.

6.- Did again steps 1 to 4 above.  Same results. TIME IS STILL WRONG AND the device is not able to set the time correctly is it is configured to obtain the time from the network.

Whats up with you Google. Can't you really fix this issue?  It's been months since we (many manyu users) repor

What also worries me is (if it does get fixed) I will be so used to subtracting an hour I am going to be early for appointments.

My hub tells me the correct time for where I am located but the display is one hour ahead.

Thanks for the info. I made more queries following your links.

They have no solution for this... Chihuahua, MX changed time zone on October and it's still wrong. They haven't added a time zone selector to the Nest Hub 🙃

Mexico abolished daylight savings in 2022, but a lot of my devices still went forward an hour, including my Nest Hub. I can't find an option to adjust the time manually like I can on my phone. Is anyone experiencing this or am I the only one in Mexico with this issue? The hub was originally bought in Europe, so maybe that explains why there wasn't an update to fix this.

Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for reaching out. The Google team is aware of this issue and is working on a fix.

Thank you. 🙂

@listairee

Customers all over the world have been reporting for many months now in this forum that the timezone database that Google Nest uses to assign timezones to customer addresses has errors in it. So far, Google Nest's responses posted in this forum have never acknowledged that the problem exists, or have persisted in mischaracterizing the problem, or have referred customers to the Google Maps customer community, where there also has been no response.

Hello @MplsCustomer,

Yes, I noticed that from your thread. Now that it is escalated, they are actively working on the fix. 🙂

I noticed that the Nest Thermostat has a Pacific location setting for country MX that does set my time zone correctly as it appears the time zone database for this was updated when Mexico stopped DST this past March.

I think this may be my issue as it worked just fine until a recent update shows GMT-6 for my time zone when I ask the Hub Display what is my time zone however the time displayed shows GMT-5 ... for now i moved my home location to an analogous US time zone and it works as the time is kinda important for a clock.

Problem is still happening in Mexico. Nest hubs show wrong time.

I bought a google Nest display recently and added two new speakers to my existing nest mini.  I live near Guadalajara, but the Nest Hub is showing Mexico City/America time zone. The address in the home settings is correct. The time is off by one hour.

All the nest mini speakers say the correct time, but not the Main Display Hub. How can I fix this problem?

Thanks!

I moved from California USA to Mexico fairly recently and all of my Google Hubs/Displays (Nest Hub, Lenovo Smart Clock, Sony Smart Clock) all show the wrong time. They all show the time 1 hour ahead of what the time actually is. There is NO daylight Saving here in Mexico but it appears that Google Home is applying it as if there were. One odd thing is if I ask any of the displays what time it is it will reply with the correct time. I have cleared my old address and added my new address, and tried other addresses (cities/States) within the same time zone just to see if it would make a difference but unfortunately, all the clocks continue to display the wrong time. Given that it's the same issue with 3 different manufacturers, I'm thinking this is a software issue.
Things I've tried:
I have removed all the devices from my home and tried adding a new/second home. Factory reset all 3 devices. Removed all homes and started "clean". I have spent all day searching for answers but to no avail. Most threads are dated and the Home app has been changed so whatever "fixes" there were no longer apply. I have tried changing my home address from both Apple and Android devices. I have given the Home app (on Android) every permission possible. At this point I have run out of ideas on how to get this fixed, so any advice/solution would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry there is no solution for this, Google hasn't updated the time zones on their database nor they have a manual time zone selector.

I have a Google Nest Hub Max that I bought in the US. I live in Mexico City, and this year daylight savings time has been eliminated. The Google Hub Max, despite being linked to my Google account that is set in Mexico City time zone, automatically changed last Sunday when Daylight Savings time would have started. This happened on many other devices, but most have already fixed themselves by now, but not the hub! My Google account is on the right time, my mini nest speakers give me the right time when asked, but the Google Hub displays one hour ahead! Help! How do I fix this?

Hi @LAScott

I have seen a few other community members from Mexico having trouble with the time zone setting since the day light savings has been changed.

I will escalate your post over to our support team.

Hello LovelyM. Is there an estimate on when will this issue be resolved?

I have like 8 devices with this issue. It's really annoying.

I don't think it should be hard to fix it.

it has been ONE MONTH, AND TWO DAYS since this big mess started in Mexico and you, a multibillion dollar company have not been able to solve it !  (Or dont even care?)

For first time readers: The issue is related  to Google devices moving the time one hour ahead when it shouldn't have changed it because Mexico's governement cancelled Daylight Savings Time in most of Mexico, starting this year.

You, Google,  should have been prepared for this:

FIRST: by paying attention to the OFFICIAL WORLD TIMETABLES (handled by IANA and which are absolutely correct and updated, way before the march 12th day the time didn't change in Mexico except, incorrectly, on many Google devices).   Here is the data you should have been aware of:  https://www.iana.org/time-zones

SECOND: It is absolutely inacceptable that you took so long to fix an elemental thing such as THE TIME in tons of computing devices. It should be fixable just by changing those tables and rebooting.  Nothing more.  But, behavior shows that you have a mess of programming code, two or mode codes to DISPLAY (the wrong) time and another piece of code to SPEAK (the CORRECT, time) in many devices.

SO, please, hurry up.  There are many many people affected, not just people playing with this things as toys.

Personally I do have senior (advanced age) persons,  disabled or incapacitated people depending on Google Home Assistant features to do things such as banking, grocery shopping, and even ASKING the thing for the time to watch their favorite show on TV.  and more...      PLEASE, fix it !
