Hi folks,

I'm happy to hear that some of the stations are now working. Let's keep monitoring it as the team is still investigating due to the fact that there are other stations that can't be played. I'll keep updating this thread as soon as I have additional information to share.

I marked my previous post as a "Solution" to pin my post on this thread so everyone can see it immediately without the need to scroll down  just  to see that our team is already investigating the issue.

Hey folks,

I'm checking in on this thread to see how many users are still having the same issue with TuneIn. Please do not forget to provide your location, radio station that you're having an issue with, and the type of Google Home/Nest device that you have. This information will be very helpful for the team to isolate the issue further.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hey folks,

We appreciate all your patience. No new updates for now. If you still have the same issue on your devices, please do not forget to send feedback using the keywords: "GHT3 Unable to play <name of station> in Tune In." Also, update this thread with your country and device.

Rest assured that our team is working vigorously on this issue. I'll update this thread again once I got more information to share.

@MarsHotel : Is it happening on a specific station only?

@skram : Thanks for the information. I already forward it to the team.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi everyone,

For those who are still experiencing the issue, please provide the following info:

  • What type of Google Nest speakers are affected by this?
  • What are the stations that are not working?
  • What stations are currently working?
  • Cast firmware version of your Google Nest speakers

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings and then Device information.
  5. Under "Technical information," find Cast firmware: X.XXX.XXXXX.

Hi Princess,

I don't really got you mean. I firstly post an issue here and you asked to fill in a form. Then once I filled in the form and you said need to provide the information again in this forum and I did. Now, you asked me again to fill in the form? It's an endless process and does it really help since many people had already reported issues and it doesn't seems to be an individual device or account issue.

I can't be the only person having this issue. In the past 4-6 weeks, every time I ask my google mini to play the radio, it plays an ad then goes silent. I also am unable to cast audio from a radio app to the google mini, but Spotify is working fine. I've chatted with two different agents who have both said "the engineers are working on it." I just don't get how it takes so long to fix this issue when it seems to be widespread. Is anyone else having this problem and do you have any solutions?

Yes, me too.  I can't play radio anymore.  It has been happening all my Google home speakers (I have 4).  In addition 8/10 times on my Sonos it doesn't play either, about 2/10 it works.  What is going on, and why can't I find anyone else talking about this... or even a solution.

I’m having the same issue with my Google nest hub.  Music plays for a short while and then just stops.  This started about 3 months ago and I’m done everything except throw the hub out the window.  It’s very frustrating as I like to have music playing throughout the day.

its a bug that google doesn't seem to want to address/acknowledge. As a work around..  when you repeat the request to the mini  4 or 5 times it may start working.

Hey thanks for checking in. This is still an issue however I've just stopped using my google mini because without the TuneIn feature, it's not useful for me.

So for the last 4 days. It has worked for me.  Hopefully, problem is solved.

I am still having the exact problem.  Nothing has got better.  So at the moment.  Tune in does not work google home or chromecast.  Even if I use the Tunein app, it will play on my phone, when I select cast to device, it won't cast to a chromecast.  I have 3 chromecasts, it won't work with any.

The only work around is to play it on a PC using chrome browser and then select cast to speaker.

But I cant ask my google home to do it.  I can't use my phone or the app.  Why isn't this affecting everyone?  If it were I would expect to see issues posted everywhere.

It appears to work for me now.  Last 7 days it's working. 🙂

Hello,

I am in Brisbane. When trying to play my local ABC radio station by saying "play ABC radio Brisbane on TuneIn" it streams ABC radio Sydney and pats itself on the back for doing a great job. Similarly if I ask it to play triplej, it for some reason plays the triplej station from Mackay.

It's a google nest hub and the system firmware version is 295071, cast firmware is 1.56.295071.
I've spoken to someone from google and gone through the troubleshooting with them but nothing has worked.

Still not working for any radio stations on Google hub V1.  In Vermont, USA.  It works correctly on a Lenovo clock that is on the same network using the same account.

Hey Morten1,

Upon further checking looks like the issue is the radio station itself and not with your Google Nest Hub Max. Have you tried reaching out to the station itself? I'll still include the station on the lists for tracking.

@MarsHotel: Have you tried resetting your device to refresh all the settings?

Cheers,

Muddi

It works on my other google speakers so I doubt it's ABCs fault.

Ontario, Canada. I reported that it started working fine about 2 weeks ago and has continued working since. We have 1 home and several minis and mostly stream CBC radio 1 and 2.

Hi. It's working now!

MarsHotel
Community Member

Yes, I've tried a full factory reset.  The hub just responds with "Something went wrong" or "I don't know how to do that" or "I looked for xxx and it isn't available or can't be played now".

Are there workarounds?  Other radio player apps for people to use?

For my Hub Max I used Chrome browser to go to the radio station's website and used that until the TuneIn issue was resolved.  I realize this will not work on Google Home products that do not have a screen, but at least this was a stop gap for me.  Terribly inconvenient though as I could not activate the station by voice commands.

Hey Jake

Replying to you as you may have better access to use this I've experienced this lack of station playing for maybe 5, 6 weeks.

It's got better inasmuch as several unavailable stations have slowly come back. But just one, radio new Zealand concert does not When I ask Google home (various types) to play it, the output (again, various) actually locks up and I can no longer cast anything to that speaker. Another station and even BBC stations are locked out. Google home says its playing, but it cannot until that request times out or is cleared by my app I think TuneIn has a release channel problem, not Google home Hope that Thanks

Hi everyone,

Thanks for responding.

@SGi, glad to know that it's already working. Thanks for the update.

@batsmith, it's good to know that there are other stations coming back. Let's keep on monitoring it for the meantime while this thread is open. Let's all hope that TuneIn would eventually update the radio stations from their end.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the update.

@Adamfog, glad to know that it's already working now.

@MarsHotel, let's go ahead and try to perform a complete reset and see if that would make any changes. If the steps didn't work, fill up this form with all the needed information then let me know once done.

Best,

Princess

@Princesss I have already performed factory resets multiple times.  That's just routine troubleshooting for all Google products.

I'm done supplying more information, there's plenty of info supplied in this forum.

In my opinion, Google is no longer capable of delivering reliable products.  I have similar unexplained functionality from almost every Google device I own.  I'm now in the process of negotiating refunds for all my devices so I can switch to another platform.

skram
Community Member

@MarsHotel  How are you negotiating refunds?  I have 3 devices and am thinking of switching too.  I was going to buy a new Chomecast TV but ended up buying a Firestick during Prime Days (because of how this issue is not getting solved).  Loving the Firestick and am now considering dropping my Nest Hub, 2 nest minis and my older chromecast for Amazon products to align with the new Firestick. But of course cost is a factor for replacing that many devices, so any refund would help defray that cost.
