Unpairing of stereo speakers

AlphaZA
Community Member

Hi. I had 2 Nest Minis in stereo configuration, but one right speaker had an issue and I reset it. Now I can't separate the main speaker from the pair to set up a new stereo pair. I click on "Separate stereo pair", the confirmation pop up. I click ""Separate" but nothing happens.

Hi AlphaZA,

This is not the experience we wanted you to have, let me help you. A few things: when did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made? When you mentioned a reset, was it the same steps as what you see in this link?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes tops.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Afterwards, follow the steps below to unlink your paired Nest Mini’s:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your Google Nest or Home speaker.
  2. Open the Google Home app.
  3. Touch and hold the stereo pair's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings > Separate stereo pair > Separate.

Important: After you unpair your speakers, you need to relink the device that was on the right side to your Google Account:

  1. From the Home tab, touch and hold the right-side speaker that you need to relink.
  2. Tap Settings > Link account.

On the home screen, your 2 speakers should be listed separately.

Kind regards,

Dan
