VLC no longer casting to Goggle Home Hub

Since a number of weeks ago I can no longer cast my mp3 songs playing in VLC to my Google Home Hub. When I try to cast I hear a 'beep' from GHH but then no music plays - VLC just freezes.    

I get the same problem whether using my Win 7 or Win 10 computers.

If on either computer I play some music on YouTube in the Chrome browser I am able to cast that music to my GHH !

And, if using either computer I am able to cast from VLC to my JBL Link 20 ! (and I can cast the music to my Samsung TV).

Note I am able to cast music to my GHH using my android phone, using the Neutron music player.    

So the casting problem is uniquely related to the GHH when I'm trying to play music from VLC on  my Windows PC. Can't understand why I can't use VLC to cast to GHH from my PCs and why it used it work but no loner does.
