What's the value?

This afternoon my Nest Minis started replying "What's the value" when given a command to turn off or on some fan or light. The trouble began after installing a Carro smart fan and is intermittent. The fan light also works with Smart Life so I deleted it from the Carro app and installed in Smart Life. Still there is the intermittent "What's the value" which is not confined to turning on / off the fan or fan light.

Any idea how to fix this? I had a similar issue months and months ago and can not recall what I did to fix the issue. Or maybe I just went to bed and everything worked okay next day when I awoke.

Hi @WebNurse,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Minis are giving that unusual "What's the value?" response. I can certainly understand how confusing it is when an intermittent issue like this appears. Let's work together for a solution.

Please try the following steps, as they have helped other users with similar issues:

  1. Reboot your Nest Minis: Unplug the power cord from all of your Nest Minis, wait for about 60 seconds, and then plug them back in. This can sometimes clear up a temporary glitch.
  2. Sync your devices: You can try to force a sync of all your devices by using a voice command. Say, "Hey Google, sync all my devices," to one of your Nest Minis.
  3. Clear your app's cache and data: Sometimes, corrupted data in the Google Home app on your phone can cause these kinds of issues:
    • Go to your phone's Settings > Apps > Google Home.
    • Tap Storage & cache, then Clear cache. You may also try clearing storage if the issue persists, but note that you will have to re-link your accounts afterward.

I know this is a difficult situation, and I appreciate your patience. I am confident that these steps will either resolve the issue or provide the necessary information for our team to find a permanent solution.

Regards,

Kevin

Thanks. I had tried most of your suggestion prior to your post with no luck. I just went to bed frustrated. Next morning that error was gone, but replaced by non-functional automations. So more rebooting, cache clearing, power killing, and re-linking to underlying programs. No change in function was noted.
Sometime in the afternoon a couple of the automations became functional. The second morning everything behaved normally. I can not say anything in particular I did fixed anything as there was no change in function seemingly related to intervention. It's like the Home / Assistant servers had something bad for lunch and it just took 36 hr. to work out of the system.
