White noise now intermittent, or stops

M_K

The Google Home Mini speaker has been used for months to play white noise for my baby without any issues. All of a sudden, recently, white noise no longer working properly - it intermittently cuts out or breaks up, causing the baby to wake up.

I have tried rebooting speaker and router multiple times, but still continues to happen every night.

Anyone know if there was a change recently?

Thanks

Hi @M_K

I don't know of any known issues with the white noise ambient sounds.  Try a full reset as you already tried a reboot.

If this doesn't help please report via feedback. You can do that in the Google Home app or by voice. Just say "Okay Google, share feedback" and then record the message.

Does the same happen when streaming music from Spotify? I haven't had this issue with white noise yet, but we do with Spotify, especially if it's playing on more than 1 speaker. The music will get choppy, cut out, and then stop playing completely.

I also have the same issue. I use the command "Play white noise for X hours." Where X is usually 10 or 12 hours. It used run through the night just fine, but now it is rare to hear the white noise still going when I wake up - and I will often restart it in the middle of the night if/when I wake up.

Hi. @M_K and @britishbadger,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I'm sorry to hear that your Google Nest speaker unexpectedly stops playing white noise. Let's work together to find a solution.

To better assist you, I’d like to know:

  • What platform are you using to play white noise?

Since you've already restarted the speaker, try the following troubleshooting step:

If this situation continues after rebooting the device, perform a factory reset on the Google Nest speaker

Feel free to ask any questions you might have along the way.

Best regards,

Ana.
