Why are my Google speakers 'choppy' when I play music regardless of the streaming provider?

When I play music to my Google Home speakers it's always 'choppy' on various speakers in the group.

Thanks for reaching out. Oh no! Having choppy music sounds very unpleasant. I understand your concern and would be more than happy to help find a solution. First, I have some questions to get a better understanding of the situation.

  • Which Google speakers is this post in regard to? (model name, generation number)
  • Is this a new issue or has this always been happening?
  • Do you have an example of how your audio is 'choppy'? 
    • Is the music pausing? Does the speaker not sound clear?
  • Does this issue only occur in speaker groups or even when it's just the device by itself?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you tried to the device itself?
