Why does Google Home Mini keep resetting volume

Every couple of days or so I notice that one of my Home Minis is louder than normal.

I ask "Volume?" It replies "Volume is 35%".

I say "Volume 30%". Volume is normal again.

A couple of days later, it repeats. I have not touched it, I do not have any routines set up.

Why does Google Home think that it should be changing the volume by itself?
