Why is Google Still Blocking Workspace Accounts from Nest Features?

It’s been over a decade since Google acquired Nest, and Workspace account holders still can’t access basic features like Sleep Sensing on the Nest Hub (2nd Gen) or view the Nest Cam on the Hub Max. Despite paying for Workspace, we’re locked out of features that free Gmail users get.

This isn’t a minor oversight—it’s a years-long failure that reflects just how disconnected Google has become. Users have been raising this issue forever, and there’s been zero progress or transparency.

At the same time, Google is losing ground across the board—AI, cloud, hardware—and the cracks are showing. The company still has tremendous brand equity in its ecosystem, but instead of building on that by making things work better together, it’s doing the opposite: creating friction, punishing power users, and slowly driving us away.

If anyone at Google is paying attention: fix this. Let Workspace users access Nest. Stop giving us more reasons to leave.

Hi @marksf!

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand that you would like to use your Google Workspace account to have full access to all the features of your devices and the Google Home app. I'm happy to help you!

Some Google Home app features are not available for Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) accounts. To access all Google Home app features available in your country, you need to link a personal Gmail account instead.

Your thoughts are valuable to us as we're always working to improve the Nest experience. Please share your thoughts directly with our development team using this feedback form. Your input will help us prioritize features and better serve our diverse user base.

If you have any additional questions or need help, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Best regards,
Geremi
