Won't play my music - Sure, check out this Music station on YouTube Music.

Just recently my nest home won't play music that I listen to from my YouTube music premium account. The account is linked and just a few days ago when I ask google to play music it will play music that I like or similar to my mixes. Now when I ask it to play music it says:

Sure, check out this Music station on YouTube Music.

Extremely random music will start to play ranging from children's music to foreign music. I have restarted the speakers, linked and relinked my YouTube music account, uninstalled the home app and reinstalled, linked voice recognition. Tried everything. It always default to a random music station.

This is happening on my nest hub and Lenovo clock.

I read that some people in the EU had to change some settings but the settings are not available for me in Canada.

Any help will be great.

Hello @MM1724,

Thanks for posting in the community.

I know how annoying it is when random music starts playing, and I also appreciate your effort in trying to troubleshoot your speaker on your own. It sounds like something is interrupting the connection between Nest Home and your YouTube Music Premium account. Here are some steps you can try to fix:

1. Check YouTube Music App Permissions:

  • On your phone or tablet, go to the Settings app and navigate to Apps & Notifications (or similar wording depending on your device).
  • Find the YouTube Music app and tap on it.
  • Look for the Permissions section and ensure that microphone access is enabled. This allows voice commands to control the app.

2. Clear YouTube Music App Cache and Data:

  • In the same App Settings menu for YouTube Music (as mentioned in step 1), look for options like Storage, Clear Cache, and Clear Data (whichever options are available).
  • Important: Clearing app data will remove any downloaded songs within the YouTube Music app.

3. Factory-Reset Nest Home (Last Resort):

Please try these steps and let me know how it goes. Thank you.

Regards,

Jorge.
