Thanks. As per my original post, Restricted mode is not on in the app, which is the problem. I've turned it on and off again and no difference.

Hi Liezel_T,

Thanks for following up. I am sorry that you are experiencing issues with your Google Nest Hub and the YouTube Music app. But no need to worry, help is here.

Before we get started with further troubleshooting, let me ask you some questions:

  1. When did the behavior start?
  2. Do you have any issues with other apps or only with the YouTube Music app?
  3. Do you receive the same error with the YouTube App?
  4. Is your YouTube Music app working correctly on other devices?

In the meantime, let's troubleshoot problems with turning off Restricted Mode:

If you’ve entered your username and password, and Restricted Mode remains on, you can check your settings on the YouTube content restrictions page for more info. The tool will assess whether an administrator set up these restrictions, or if they are on your personal account. A check mark will display beside the relevant restriction. If more help is needed, the tool will guide you toward the next step for troubleshooting.

If you have issues with multiple apps, you may try to update or reboot Nest Hub:

Check YouTube Music app:

  • Ensure the app is up-to-date and running smoothly.
  • If needed, you may try to uninstall and reinstall the app.

You can also check the following article to Restrict content on your Google Nest speakers and displays.

Please keep me posted.

Best,

Mario

Hi,

This started recently, I took my hub to another house I was staying at and ever since I've come.back it hasn't worked properly. I have rebooted several times after mutiple setup issues.

I only have the YouTube Music app, I don't know how to link other apps to the hub.

No issues in using the YouTube Music app, I can play the same podcast requested on the hub.

Seems ok on other devices.

YouTube Music app is all up to date. Have reinstalled and no change.

Thanks.

Hi Liezel_T,

Thanks for your reply. Could you confirm if you tried the next steps to turn off restricted mode on the Google Home app and YouTube music?

Open the Google Home app:

  1. Tap favorites or devices.
  2. Tap and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings, then Notifications and Digital Wellbeing, then YouTube settings.
  4. Under 'Use Restricted Mode,' turn it off.

And on your Nest Hub, open the YouTube Music app:

  1. Open the YouTube Music app.
  2. Tap on your profile icon, then Settings.
  3. Tap Playback and restrictions.
  4. Finally, turn off restricted mode if it's on.

I will be awaiting your response.

Regards,
Manuel

I don't know how to open the YouTube Music app on the Nest Hub but the app on my phone it's not restricted.

I checked the restriced settings in the Google Home app and and it was only on for 'retrict if not me', I've turned this off and still didn't work.

However I have now set up voice recognition on this speaker and it's plying the podcast now, so let's see if this works next time...
