my screen has been showing black with two vertical lines i have tried a factory reset but now i cant sign back into my device
any advice?

A black screen with vertical lines usually points to a hardware/display fault rather than a software issue. A few things to try:
Power cycle: Unplug the Nest display for at least 1 minute, then plug it back in.
Check power adapter & cable: Make sure you’re using the original Google power supply and that it’s firmly connected.
Brightness & screen damage: Shine a flashlight at the screen—if you can faintly see the UI, it’s likely the backlight or panel.
Contact Google Support: If the reset didn’t help and you still can’t sign in, it may need repair or replacement.
Since you already tried a factory reset, reaching out to Google Support is your best next step.
