Surely this must be a common problem. You leave a relationship and don't want to see their faces appear on your device. Instead of saying I want photos of person X or Y, can we not say show picture of X and Y but EXCLUDE photos of person Z. Even handy when you hate spiders and say show my photos but exclude photos of spiders (or any other keyword). Say someone had a fatal car crash, should be able to exclude photos of cars on the slideshow.

Hey waltervp,
Apologize for the delays. Chiming in to ensure everything is covered here. If you want your Nest Hub to show photos of you and your family, create a separate album for your family on Google Photos. In that way, only the photos included in your album will be shown on the screen.
Hope this help.

To hide photos with a specific person’s face, you can remove their face group in Photos. If you don’t want a specific photo to appear, you can also move it to archive in Photos.

It is not an ideal solution but certainly will work and I can control what pops up... but instead of saying what i like to see I like the option to also select what I like to avoid. That way the photos remain dynamic and up to date. A future feature maybe.
