I can see _meshcop._udp. from Nest hub max with thread version 1.2.0 but when trying to connect a matter supported device it shows "your device requires a thread border router"

Hello Mnahome,
Thanks for visiting the Community.
If you are trying to connect a Matter-enabled device to your Google Home, it joins the same network as your Google device that works as a Matter hub. This lets you control it whether you're home or away.
Thread is a wireless mesh connectivity protocol very similar to Wi-Fi, but was purposely designed for connecting smart home devices so that they can perform even faster, more reliably and more capably.
Not all Matter-enabled smart home devices from third-party manufacturers will include a Thread radio. Some Matter devices will simply connect to your Google Home over just your existing home Ethernet or Wi-Fi network. In order to get the best Matter experiences and performance over Thread with Google Home, you will need a compatible Google device that has a Thread border router built in.
The Thread border router in your Google device connects your Thread smart device network to the rest of your devices on your Wi-Fi or Ethernet network, ensuring that they are all communicating as one for Google Home.
The following Google devices can act as a Thread border router with Google Home:
To learn more about the benefits of Thread for your smart home devices, and which Google devices have a Thread border router built in, please read How Google products use Thread.
Hope this info helped.
Best,
Princess

Recently bought a used hub max and It is showing some random version(software version: 45.* and cast firmware version: 1.56.*) and the update channel is set to "adt-display-beta-channel". I tried restarting and factory resetting but never got an update and I doubt it's not working as thread router which is why I am exploring how to update.

Thanks @Princesss for the reply. I do have a Nest hub max and I am still getting this error "your device requires a thread border router". So wondering whether there is any issue with my nest hub max as I posted a question here

Hi there,
Thanks for the additional details.
Could you please try to perform a complete reset to your Google Nest Hub Max? Here's how to do it: Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays
Let me know how it goes.
Best,
Princess
