Can't view Nest Camera on Sony Bravia TV with Google OS

After I transferred my Nest Doorbell to Google Home from the Nest application, I was not able to view the camera on my Sony Bravia TV with Google OS. When I ask Google to show the front door, it will load on the TV but I'm presented with a grey screen with a camera with a slash through it. Once I transferred the Doorbell back to the Nest application, I was able to view the camera on the TV with no issues.

I recently installed a Nest Camera with Floodlight and I am having the same issue. When I ask Google to show the entryway camera, it shows the grey screen again. I've rebooted my modem and reset the devices but no resolution yet.

Does anyone know how to remediate this?

Hi NestUser2389,

Thanks for posting in the community! Sorry to hear that you can't see your Nest Camera in your Sony Bravia TV with Google OS. No worries, help is here! Let's try some troubleshooting steps:

1. Check Google Home App Settings:

  • Device Settings:
    • Ensure the Nest Camera is correctly added and linked to your Google account.
    • Verify that the device permissions are set correctly, allowing access to the camera and microphone.
  • TV and Speaker Settings:
    • Check if the Google TV is linked to the correct Google account.
    • Ensure the TV and speaker are compatible with Google Home and Nest devices.

2. Update Software:

  • Nest Camera:
    • Make sure your Nest Camera is running the latest firmware. Check for updates in the Google Home app.
  • Google TV:
    • Update your Google TV's operating system to the latest version.

3. Network Connectivity:

  • Strong Wi-Fi Signal:
    • Ensure both the Nest Camera and Google TV are connected to a strong Wi-Fi network.
    • Try restarting your router or modem to refresh the network connection.
  • Firewall Settings:
    • Check if your firewall is blocking the necessary ports for Google Home and Nest devices.

4. Google Assistant Voice Commands:

  • Clear and Specific Commands:
    • Use clear and specific voice commands like "Show front door camera" or "Show entryway camera."
    • Experiment with different phrasings to see if it helps.

5. Factory Reset (Last Resort):

  • Nest Camera:
    • As a last resort, you can try factory resetting your Nest Camera. However, this will erase all settings, and you'll need to set it up again.
    • Refer to the Nest device's specific instructions for the factory reset process.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Axel.
