Cannot cast to a specific app

I have 2 Chromecast devices not sure which gen but I cannot cast anything from one particular app. I used to be able to with no issues. I did recently move and change internet providers but I am using the same wifi network for both my phone and the Chromecast devices. When I try to stream it literally starts for 1 sec and then goes away. My husband also had the same issue when trying to cast from his phone. I have tried most of the troubleshooting and nothing is working. Please help!

I understand you’re unable to cast anything from an app to your Chromecast devices. I’ll be happy to help you with this concern.

Before I start further troubleshooting, please answer a few questions:

  • Are you using an Android or an iPhone to manage your Chromecast devices?
  • What is the current firmware version of your Chromecast devices? You can find this by following the steps in this Google Nest Help Center article: Find your device’s firmware version.
  • Are your mobile devices updated to their latest operating system versions?
  • Are you using the latest version of the Google Home app? If not, this Google Nest Help Center article provides helpful instructions: Update the Google Home app.
  • Are your Chromecast devices and mobile devices connected to a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WiFi network?
  • How far are your Chromecast devices from your router?
  • Which app are you unable to cast from?
  • What specific troubleshooting steps have you already tried to resolve this inconvenience?
