Cant cast or get google home app to work

Hello,

 

I have been having issues for a long time regarding casting and the google home app, but I finally decided to ask about it here. I've factory resetted the chromecast multiple times and have cleared data and cache of Google Play Services on my phone multiple times as well to no result. I have a Samsung galaxy a54 and have had the chromecast for almost 2 years now. When I factory reset the chromecast, it works for the first time I cast or use the Google home app, but not the next time.

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

 

  • What model of Chromecast are you using?
  • Is your Chromecast device and your phone connected to the same Wi-Fi network?
  • Is your Chromecast currently connected to a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz network?
  • Have there been any recent changes to your Wi-Fi network or home environment?
  • Have you experienced any power outages in your area recently?
  • What is the status of the LED light that you can see on the device?

Hello,

 

I am using a Chromecast with Google TV (4K). It was bought around the end of 2022. My phone and chromecast are on the same 5G internet. There has been no changes or outages in my area recently.

Thanks for the follow-up information. 

 

Please let's try these steps:

 

  • Force close and reopen the Google Home app.
  • Reboot the router: Disconnect the Wi-Fi router from the socket and leave it unplugged for 2 minutes.
  • Reboot your Chromecast: This can help with some glitches. Refer to this article: Reboot your Chromecast with Google TV.

Hello,

 

I've tried all of those steps to no avail. The Google Home app refuses to even acknowledge the chromecast and just keeps saying it's not connected to the network even though it is. Factory resetting is only a temporary fix, only lasting for the first time I cast and use the google home app, them going back to not recognizing it the next time.
