I'm not sure if mine is 1st or 2nd Gen but my phone connects to the chromecast when I first start setting it up. When connecting the wifi is says that I can't communicate with the chromecast. It also says can't connect to the internet after I press retry.

Hi @Scoindreau

Thank you for your timely post and the comprehensive information you've provided.

I'm sorry to hear that you're encountering issues when you try to set up your Chromecast device in the Google Home app. I understand how frustrating this can be. Don't worry, I'm here to help you troubleshoot and find a solution together.

To assist you with the best solution, I would like to get a bit more information:

  • What is the color of your Chromecast device?
  • Is your Chromecast currently connected to 2.4 GHz?
  • Has there been any changes on the router settings or network connection?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you already tried?
  • Have you experienced any power outages in your area recently?
  • What mobile device did you use to set up your Chromecast?
  • Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Google Home app?
  • Have you tried connecting your Chromecast to a different power source?
  • Is the Google Home app updated?
  • When did the issue start?

Thank you for your attention. I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Jeremy

The chromecast is gray and black.

My internet is 5ghz

This is the same network that it was already connected to. When I plugged it back in after moved it automatically connected to my internet but wouldn't show up on Google home or any streaming apps

I have updated the Google home app, did a hard reset on the chromecast, turn off and on the internet and chromecast.

No power outages

I'm using my android phone for setting it up

I have not removed the app. My other chromecast shows up on the app.

I haven't plugged it into a different spot.

The issue started on the 14th of September
