Chromecast 2nd Gen casting failure

i see the cast option on my phone and on desktop, but every time i cast only the casting logo shows up on the TV and it says "no media selected" from the casting device. this has been happening for a few months. it was perfect before

 

casting works perfectly when casting from the youtube app on browser or mobile but no other media on chrome browsers

  • How far are you from your TV when you try to cast?
  • Is your internet connection stable?
  • Have there been any changes to your router settings?
  • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps so far?
  • Could you please share a picture of the error message you get on your TV?
