Chromecast not playing apps

everything is fine when I turn on the tv and chromecast but it’s when I open an app like YouTube tv or Netflix. I can’t play any shows or channels. I lose the ability of any of the buttons on the chromecast remote to work other than the power button. I’ve reset a bunch of times now

• What is the specific model of your chromecast device? Here’s a helpful article about how to identify the model of your device.
• Do you see any LED lights illuminate on the remote when you try to use it?
• Are you using the remote that originally came with your chromecast?
• When did the remote start having issues?
• Could you please describe how you attempted to reset the chromecast?
• Do you see any physical damage on the remote? If so, would you be able to share a picture?

In the meantime, I’d suggest the following steps:

• Ensure your Google Home app and phone's operating system are both updated to their latest versions.
• If possible, use the original batteries that came with the remote. If not, please try two fresh 1.5-volt AAA batteries.
