I have an old RCA Brand TV in my garage and purchased a Chromecast for it.
It is RCA model RLD3273A
I have done some pretty intensive searching for a solution and really just want to eliminate the old remote that I have to use for power and volume.
I have tried about 10 different brands (that were suggested while searching for a solution) during the power/volume setup for the Chromecast remote and all results have not worked.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

If the Chromecast is going to be the only input to the TV, couldn't you just set the remote to control the Chromecast volume output instead of controlling the TV via IR?

Hello GBD,
Thank you for your response 👍
The Chromecast will be the only input to the TV.
I guess I do not fully understand your suggestion.
I am thinking this is where you put the volume way up on the TV with the TV remote and then somehow the Chromecast itself can adjust it up and down?
Could you please explain this to me in a little more detail how to accomplish this?
I had been hoping someone might know some other brand(s) of the hundreds of TV brands listed in the Chromecast that might use the same frequencies that I could try for power and volume to eliminate the TV remote completely.
Thank you

The Chromecast with google TV can be set to control volume in three ways.
1. Auto (CEC) - Controls TV volume via the HDMI input only if TV has HDMI CEC input.
2. Your TV's IR - Controls TV volume using the IR output of the remote
3. Chromecast volume
What you need to do is to go into the Chromecast settings for the remote buttons (Settings -> Remotes & Accessories -> Set up remote buttons -> Volume control) and choose Chromecast Volume instead of the option for IR. Set your TV at maximum volume using it's own remote and turn down the Chromecast output volume to your preferred listening level using the remote.
Setting up your remote like this will also give you the ability to control the volume via google assistant and google home.
You can find some more information on this from the Google support site at https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/10094150?hl=en
