Chromecast with google tv remote centre button seems to be failing

The centre button, as of now still works but it feels different, kind of soggy when i click or it sticks and then clicks loudly when i press

 

i brought it new few weeks ago but after ending up calling google support as I had various problems, but turned out to already be registered to someone else.  It was sold in the store as a brand item but after the call to support I found a return sticker on the side of the box, which had not been filled out.

 

I live a long drive from the store so haven't had time to take it back and ask the store 'wtf' but now the button is failing I'm wondering if that's the reason the last person returned it.

Pretty pissed off I paid full price for a used item.  Is a major chain store where I live and not the first time they have been in trouble for breaching our retail laws here. But if I were the person who returned it id be pretty pissed off too, to find some stranger had access to my Google account and Gmail address....

 

Anyway has anyone else had the center button (the one you click the most, ie to skip ads or trailers or to pause or restart play) suddenly  go soft to press? And also feel like it was sticking against the side of the remote and catching when you did press it? or even making a loud click that it does not normally make and if so did it fail after this?

Hi @Kimmyh51 

I would go back to the store with the problematic remote and Chromecast. It may very well have been a return due to that remote problem.  Selling you a used product as new is not ideal!

The Google Store does sell the remote as a separate replacement so that is also an option for you.
