Chromecast won’t let me get past “select your region” during set up

Tomhop701

I am traveling and just a few hours from home. My chromecast wont connect to the new wifi network because I keep getting stuck at “select your region”. I hit the region I’m in, then continue, and it goes directly back to the same screen. I have reset the wifi. Unplugged and plugged back in the chromecast. I cannot do a factory reset since I am not on the original network. Does anyone know how I can move past the “select your region” part so I can get this set up?!

Perhaps there is something broken on Google Nest's servers. There are now 2 other posts in the last 2 hours about not being able to select a "region":

Hi folks,

Thanks for the help, @MplsCustomer.

@Tomhop701 and @Ainttechfun, thanks for reaching out. I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should, and we appreciate the troubleshooting that you did.

Which Chromecast device are we trying to set up? It seems like this is isolated to iPhone devices only. Could you both try to use an Android phone to set up your devices and let us know if it will make a difference?

I look forward to your responses.

Regards,

Juni

I believe it’s a chrome cast 3rd gen, and I don’t have access to an android, both my partner and I are iPhone. I’m also having the same problem with my Lenovo smart clock

I just tried again today and it didn’t even ask for region. Thought it wouldn’t connect to my 5ghz wifi signal, but it’s working on the 2.4ghz

Keep me posted.

Apologies for the late reply. I was able to get this to work by selecting my Google Chromecast as the WIFI network on my phone. That allowed me to get through the "select your region" step.
