Google TV streaming regularly cuts out

Hi, while watching content on our TV from a couple of different streaming services we have, the streaming ceases & we see the Google TV screensaver appear. This happens regularly every 10 minutes, and is not limited to any one streaming service. The streaming re-commences by pressing the "enter" button on the remote. I have tried to find a setting for the screensaver, but cant. Has anyone experienced this and is there a solution?

Thanks.

Hi @xrodsmith ,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear that your Google TV Streamer stops every 10 minutes and changes to the screensaver mode. Don't worry, help is here.

Before we continue, I have some questions for you:

  • What type of Google TV Streamer do you have?
  • Do you have the same problem when you cast from another device?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you taken to troubleshoot the Google TV Streamer?
  • Does the issue start after some update?

I’ll be waiting for your reply.

Best regards,

Derick.

Hi Derick, thanks for getting back & apologies for the delay in replying. We have a Google TV Streamer with Voice Remote model GRS6B which we purchused about 3 months ago. We have only had this problem when streaming from the TV Streamer. We have tried to locate any settings on the streamer that control screen-saver timings, but can't find anything. Likewise with the streaming apps (most notably Fawesome & Filmzie), but can find no seetinge with them either. The streamer is up to date with updates. Thanks.

Hi @xrodsmith,

Thanks for your reply. Let’s try managing the energy saver feature in your Google TV Streamer (4k).

Please follow the steps below to manage Energy Saver:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Select System.
  • Select Energy Saver.
  • Select When inactive, and then select a range of time or the option never.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Derick

Hi Derick,

Again, sorry for the late reply. I followed your instructions above, and found the seeting was already set to 20 minutes, so that shouldnt be the problem. I've since concluded the problem is most likely with the apps themselves, rather than the streamer, as the the ones I mentioned above are the only ones where the problem seems to occur. If it happens again with other apps in future I'll reach out again. Thanks again for your help.
