. . our internet network was down for a day, technician came in to install a new modem, was able to successfully connect the Google Hub & responded (seen from the GoogleHome app test check) & is now working. UNFORTUNATELY, the old Chromecast device plugged on Tv is not seen (reflecting) on the Google home for the nth time test checks, rebooted the modem, plugged/ unplugged the Chromecast device, changed plugging from behind tv to main power from wall, reset/ reboot the small button to reboot, was giving a new code, BUT STILL it is not showing on the "Looking for Devices" . . has checked & followed to the dot all the necessary instruction but no luck still . . also i was not seeing any app or the Chromecast- is this an obsolete app/ device? so what happens to my old unit plugged in on tv now? for the longest time we were enjoying it, but now i cant see it not showing on the GoogleHome app? what's the matter/ what's wrong w/ it? would appreciate your soonest reply & solution to this please ! ! ! this is our only means of casting Netflix & YouTube from our iPhones to the big screen . . .

I tried and it works.
1. reset googlecast in regular way: push the button close to the usb cable for more than 25 second until the the screen show 'set me up'
2. open your wifi setting in your iphone or ipad, find the open network named chromecaset_xxxx , connect it anyway.
3. open your google home app and add new device, if there is a message "continue with wlan", choose this one.
4. your google home can find the cast and continue
5. you get it.

Yes, Same issue with me. Not able to use Chromecast 1st generation since last week. Getting App Isolation error.

I called and spoke to Google support weeks ago. Was told I'd be updated soon. Still no response. That was after she made me reboot and set up several times even though I told her I work in i.t. as a consultant, and I had done it for several hours already. Then to tell me they have no fix and she would escalate the ticket and they would contact me soon with a solution. Radio silence. Looks like they are just **bleep**ting on people with older Chromecast. I have 3 Chromecast in total. 2 first gen and 1 2nd. Sad to see this is how google treats their customers. By requiring them to replace product every couple years.
