Old Samsung tv with chrome cast - no youtubetv app

I have a 6 year old Samsung tv. I want to access my YouTube tv app by adding chrome cast.

Am I able to add apps to the old Netflix and youtube apps that exist?

I think you have two problems here.

The first is apps on your TV.  Samsung doesn't use the same apps as other devices.  They have special versions that they have written in their own operating system and release to there own TVs.  Because of that, you are very limited in what is available ON the TV.

If your Samsung has "Chromecast Built-in" you can cast to it from ANY cast enabled app.  But, you have to run that app on your phone, tablet, or computer and cast to your TV using your other device to control everything.

If you want to see more apps ON your TV, you can get around Samsung by connecting a Chromecast with Google TV device to one of the HDMI input ports.  That new style of Chromecast can load most (but not all) apps on itself and you can control it using the included remote.  There is no need to have a phone, tablet, or computer to control it.
