Hey folks, 

If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.

Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.

If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi everyone,

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:

Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165

Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166

Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

We have started to roll out a fix for the problem with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices, which will be completed over the next few days. Your device must be connected to receive the update.

If you performed a factory reset during initial troubleshooting, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup your device. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please continue to check the Community page here for updates and next steps.

An update on the situation: the team has identified the cause of the issue impacting Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices.

Please do not factory reset your device. If you previously performed a factory reset during troubleshooting, you may also be experiencing an issue where you're unable to re-setup your device. The team has identified the cause for this as well and is currently working on a fix.

We’re working to resolve this as soon as possible, and will keep you updated when there is more to share.

Boa tarde, 

Não consigo gerenciar as minhas rotinas, informa que no idioma utilizado esta função não se encontra disponível. 

Já reiniciei ambos os equipamentos, já verifiquei que o google home está actualizado, já adicionei o idioma ingles US e não consigo, conseguem ajudar?

Seguindo orientações de vários blogs de tecnologia, consegui restaurar meus aparelhos Google Chromecast de 2ª Geração, retrocedendo manualmente a data do meu celular, porque como eu não sabia o que estava acontecendo e redefini os aparelhos. Mas retrocedi manualmente a data do celular ao dia 06/03/2025, e finalmente o celular conseguiu fazer contato com o Chromecast, reconfigurei a rede de internet, e a atualização baixou automaticamente. E finalmente consegui voltar a ter acesso ao Chromecast. Deu certo e o Chromecast voltou a funcionar.

When issue happened 1 week ago, I factory reset chromecast few times but no luck then I delete device from google home. Now I am trying to add device back in google home without any luck (could not setup device). Please help.

Datum op uw smartphone naar 8/3 instellen. Dan u chromecast volledig opnieuw installeren zowel Google Home. CHROMECAST zal terug geverifieerd worden. Datum terug naar huidige datum veranderen. Rustig wachten tot hij volledig geupdate is terug. Kan snel maar ook een dag duren de update. Chromecast zal terug werken als nieuw

Hola, tengo la aplicación actualizada a la última versión disponible según google apps, 3.30.1.5 y no me reconoce el dispositivo. Lo reinicié de fábrica porque así lo indican ustedes en sus soluciones... necesito ayuda por favor para poder usar mi chromecast. Cuando intento conectarlo me indica "no se puede establecer comunicación con su chromecast"

My Chromecast with Google TV has this firmware number 3.72.446070.

Since the latest update I can't listen to anything, no sound, nothing comes out of my TV when I try to watch anything through my Chromecast. Nor through Twitch, YouTube, Netflix, CrunchyRoll... no sound at all.

Please fix this problem, I haven't been able to use my Chromecast since the latest update.

Yo lo tenía reseteado. 

Primero cambié la fecha de mi tlf al 04 de marzo 2025. ( cualquier fecha anterior a la desconexion vale ).

Luego desde Google home lo volví a configurar.  Me daba error y le di a reintentar varias veces hasta que finalicé la configuración.  Volví a poner el tlf con la fecha actual. 

Solo reproducía Fotos automáticamente.  Lo dejé conectado y se actualizó solo. No fue inmediato. Tardó , en mi caso, un día completo hasta que realizó sólo la actualización.  

Ahora funciona bien, aunque diferente de como lo hacía antes.

Simple

Just change date to 1st March 2025 in your phone/iphone/tab and then connect to Chromecast.it will update your Chromecast then you will be able to connect wifi in your Chromecast then you will be able to use your Chromecast.

Now it works. If you have IOS after the upgrade of the google home, you have to go to the app settings and active access to Local Network.

 

En español:

Si tenes Iphone, después de actualizar tenes que entrar a la configuracion de la app y activar la opcion de acceso a red local (se desactiva con la actualización).

Si, como la mayoría reseteó a fábrica....
En configuración del celular cambien la fecha del teléfono a una anterior al 8 de marzo.
Ingresen a Google Home e intenten agregar el dispositivo.
Tardará un ratito, ya que tiene que actualizarse, pero finalmente con éxito, tendrán nuevamente el Chromecast operativo.

Una vez activo, actualicen la fecha de celular.

maraming salamat sa pagpost nito.  Limang beses na akong nakikipag-usap sa Google sa telepono.  walang tulong.  nagpadala sila sa akin ng email at gusto ng serial number sa parehong device ko, ang serial number mate at modelo ng router ko.  kailan ito nangyari?  anong mga mensahe ang nakukuha ko kay yada yada yada at ang kailangan lang nilang gawin ay sabihin sa akin na baguhin ang petsa, i-set up ito at pagkatapos ay i-reset ang petsa pabalik at tapusin ang pag-set up at ito ay gumana.  salamat salamat salamat!

I updated google home and I tried to set up the internet chromcast configuration (I reboot the system before the comunication to avoid rebooting was sent) 

I am now able to get to my wifi network but it does not connect (tried using the password from my defice and seting up the password manually) 

Is this part of what is expected and still there is some update to be done contemplated on the device roll out you mentioned previously?

I factory reset my chromecast (2gen) a week ago and since then I was not able to connect with it. Today,  I followed a lead  in this community to set the date on my android mobile to March 6, which I did. Then factory reseted the chromecast again and once it returned and presented the instruction to set it, I started Google Home on the mobile and went from there; it took several minutes as the mobile was probably downloading some software to the chromecast; then the Chromecast rebooted and updated itself and I was able to associate it again to my house. It soon started to show the Google screen savers and I was able to redirect Prime to the chromecast. So, I am fine now.
