Hey folks,
If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.
If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Gente espero que esto les sirva a todos. El mio volvió a funcionar. lo primero que hay que hacer, porque todos lo resetamso de origen, es agarrar un dispositivo desde donde transmitir, cambiar la fecha a 6 de marzo y desde el home volver a conectarlo. luego apagas la TV y a la hora mas o menos la enciendes y va a aparecer un cartel que dice bajando actualizacion, luego se reinicia e instala. Y en mi caso ya pude volver a transmitir desde todas las aplicaciones

Ragazzi sono tornato operativo mi è venuto il dubbio Ho spento e riacceso il Chromecast al riavvio aveva l'aggiornamento si è installato e ha ripreso a connettersi col telefono tramite Google Home Grazie mille Speriamo di non avere mai più di questi problemi e buon lavoro a tutti e buona visione a tutti Io sono Torino Italia

Does this affect a recent change where echo (speaker) devices - (multiple versions) no longer broadcast the spoken words. The only thing they do now is the announcement sound..... This seems to have started right about the same time. Thank you.

Debes cambiar en tu dispositivo android la fecha antes del 9 de marzo..vas a Google home vuelves a configurar y se actualiza. Una vez terminado vuelve a vambiar la fecha a la actual y puedes volver a transmitir. A mi me funciono. Suerte

I did a factory reset. It helped me set the date on my phone before March 8th. Then I was able to set up Chromecast. The update was done and everything works properly even after resetting the date on my phone

Estuve revisando mi dispositivo ayer tratando de conectar y me aparece sin conexión. Cuando lo intento conectar ya no lo encuentra. En mi caso lo reseteé pero luego pude volver a vincularlo cambiando la fecha de mi móvil. Hay alguna respuesta para estos casos. Quisiera algo concreto para decidir si comprar otro o esperar

I’m back up and running on the devices I hadn’t reset. I’m based in the UK.
What I did.
Manually set date on my iPhone to 1st March.
chromecast audios showing as connected, could change names etc, but couldn’t cast to them.
Set date and time back to automatic.
Open google home app and click on Chromecast. Shows nothing casting.
Open YTmusic, able to connect and cast.
Going to try and sort the device I had reset tomorrow. Luckily I had 3 lying around, so could swap one out.

One of my Chromecast Audios has come back online which is great. The other is "Online" in my Home app, but recons it's on a different WiFi network so I can't do anything with it. I'll just sit and be patient, at least I can cast to our old Receiver now. I think it's great resolving an issue for what is basically an unsupported product, although more frequent status updates would have been good, even if to say, "We are working on it." Good comms goes a long way.

My Chromecast Audios have arisen from the dead! Thankyou 🙂
For information, I did factory reset mine, but was able to reinstall them to Home by turning back the date on my phone.
Now, Google, all you have to do is start manufacturing Chromecast Audios again, and for anything under £100 a pop, you've a guaranteed seller.

Hola. 1. Cambia la fecha de tu dispositivo al 5 de marzo..2 vas a Google home y vuelves a configurar. Una vez terminada la actualización cambias a fecha actual tu móvil y listo se hace la magia..a mi me funcionó

Si restablecemos la configuración de fábrica, alguien de la comunidad mencionó qué hacer. Seguí lo mismo y funcionó. Cambia la configuración, desactiva la fecha automática, cambia la fecha al 1 de marzo y luego agrega el dispositivo Chromecast a la app Inicio. Debería funcionar y no muestra el error "No pudimos autenticar tu dispositivo Chromecast". Una vez conectado el dispositivo, en unos minutos veo que Chromecast se ha actualizado y vuelve a funcionar. ¡Genial!

Hi, My one lost connection with all devices like phones (Iphone, Sony). I can't cast on my Sony TV any Netflix or Prime Video streaming, but I can sill see the Google pictures. Waiting for solutions making work again my device. KJ

El que restaursate tenes que hacer
1. Cambia la fecha en tu movil a una anterior al 9 de marzo
2. Configurar desde Google Home, una vez actualizado
3. Vuelves a cambiar la fecha EN TU MOVIL a la actual y listo puedes volver a transmitir. A mi me funcionó. Suerte

Okay folks the fix is easy I don't know why Google has an updated their response mine is working perfectly now but I had to go through the process twice set your phone back to March 8th Go into the home app and set up new device it will find your Chromecast and apply updates once it is finished updating and rebooted set your phone back to automatic date and it will work perfectly this works even if like me you did the factory reset before Google made their announcement if it doesn't work the first time try it again until you see the update on your screen Good luck

Im heavily invested on your google products, my whole house is powered by google, I know you want to kill the support to these dongles but please take in consideration that a lot of people that own this dongles are also people that own multiple other google devices and subscription. The least you could do is allow us users to be able to use these dongles freely untill they last.

If we do factory reset, someone in the community mentioned what to do, here is what I followed the same and got success. Change in your settings , auto date off, change date to Mar 1st and then add chromecast device to Home app, it should work and doesn't give the error "we couldn'tauthenticateyour chromecast device." Once device is connected then with in few minutes i see chromecast updated and its back to working. Yay
