And the issue is back, at least for me.

**bleep** near almost a month, and it still doesn't work, I had a few days since this all started (maybe 4 total) where it did work, but then stopped working the next day. I gave them way more than enough time and today, I ordered an apple TV and will be moving over towards growing my apple eco system. Google home- you're next to be replaced!

@GoogleNestTeam I did the factory reset, how do I get it working again?

This solution is so awful...

Never work steady any more.

Need to restart endlessly.

I miss Chromecast efficiency so much.

Hi

I have 2 Chromecasts gen 2 at Home that were affected by this issue. I was abke to restore ne of them to full functionallity, while the other has a strange behaviour. When it finishes the setup it is detectable , it has an IP is visible in Home app, but I can only brodcast sound to it has it fails when broadcasting video. Also I cannot see the wallpaper on tv , but I can see it at the Home App.. The Light on the appliance is blinking after finalizing the boot process.

I repeated the procedures highlighted in the forum more than once and it always has the same behaviour.

Can you help ?

Forgive me if I’m mistaken but this group is focused on CHROMCAST gen2 AUDIO.  Maybe, redirect if true.

I’m so disappointed with Google home devices. Their technology seems to be subject to a human some where who has no time to address issues.

For weeks I have been waiting for a solution to my 5 Google speakers. No solution from Google offered. I might just sell them for whatever I can.

Google has rendered my Chromecast absolutely useless after the last fiasco. Casting started after the so called fix but the quality was extremely poor. Now it is setup and connected but no casting. I am stuck with a brick. I would sue Google for rendering devices useless and forcing people to buy new devices. Didnt expect this from Google.

It's not just the older devices. My new Google TV Steamer is having the same issue.

I think Google totally ignores these comments

Chromecast lost my confidence once they screwed up the restoration process and made a factory reset the WRONG solution to their problem. I have since replaced my Google stuff with Fire Cube and I am loving the results.

Hello! The issue has reappeared despite the new update. Will there be another update?

Hi, i didnt had these complete failure issues, instead since some weeks my Chromecast Audios (6 in my flat) are regularely not reachable. I am not able to stream anything.

Never all or them at the same time. Just randomly it seems.

I then need to unplug device and plug again so it restarts. This never happened before but now starded to happen every 2 days...

Cast-Firmware: 1.56.467166

You are experiencing the Google phenomenon known as lack of server throughput or Internet capacity.  Every Google device runs through the cloud and when the cloud or the Internet gets too overloaded we experience intermittent interruptions to some or all of our devices.  Most of the devices are just dumb terminals and need the computing power of the servers to do anything.  That is why none of them work when the Internet is down.

SORPRESA! , VUELVO A NO PODER CONECTARME AL WIFI Y NO PUEDO CONECTAR MI CHROMECAST.

3 O 4 CASOS ABIERTOS EN GOOGLE HELP Y NI CASO LLEVO ESPERANDO 2 O 3 SEMANAS.

ALGUNA AYUDA PORFAVOR?

Hola,

Lo has mantenido conectado? Debe permanecer conectado para que llegue la actualización. En mi caso quedó solucionado definitivamente de esa forma, después de un par de días de que anunciaran la corrección.  Suerte!

Contacted support directly there is still an issue with pixel devices connecting to these devices. I had to use a non pixel device and it worked. In case this helps someone else.

I have a Pixel 8 Pro and other devices, and nothing can connect to my Google TV Streamer. My Pixel and other devices can connect to my Chromecast with Google TV and Nest displays just fine. It's only the Google TV Streamer I'm having issues with.

Hello - my issue has still not been resolved. My Google Home app is updated. I have performed a factory re-set on the device and re-set up my Chromecast app but when I then try to cast from any streaming app, it says no devices are found.

After the problem resolution, my chromecast audio work fine.

From today i have the problem again

My 2 Chromecast still doesn't work, so are Google gonna compensate us? It seems like they really don't care about the problem. And want us to buy some new ones

If you update your Google Home App. It does work. After several attempts at it I noticed I had more than one home listed in app. I deleted every one and rebooted my Chromecast, it then updated also and I created a new home in the app. Works perfectly

Thank you for the answer mate. Just found out it's a problem with my Samsung Galaxy s25 ultra and my Samsung tablet. Anybody else experienced problems adding devices with Samsung products?

I actually had the same issue with a Roborock vacuum cleaner, couldn't connect both the vacuum and my chromecast when I tried to use my Samsung products, but when I got a friend by using there android devices it worked 🙄

So today I have issues again.  I have a Chromecast Audio device that I have named Tuner to correspond with the name on my multiroom audio controller input button.  I have several "automations" that will stream a radio station on "Tuner" than turn on my multiroom audio controller and set it to the Tuner input.  If walk up to one of my Google Home devices and tell it to play "automation" it works fine.  If I try to run an automation in the Google Home app on my tablet it turns on the multiroom controller but then gives me an error that it can't find "Tuner" even though I can go into devices on that same tablet and bring it up and look at the device info fine.  Except for the short time we were all offline due to the security issue these automations have been working fine.  Nothing has changed except today the Automations can't find the device.  Oh and my phone is telling me that "Some settings are only available when my phone and the device are on the same network."  This has been an ongoing issue that moves through all of my devices.  I only have one network in my home.  I really wish that Google would get these things figured out.  It's not good when you are expecting an automation to work and it doesn't.

I am just appalled at how bad Google support is for their devices and related services. Zero support!  They just decided that community forums are the best way to support their customers. In the end, nothing has worked out. I guess I will sell them to any of them.

I agree. I'm starting to replace my Google devices with Amazon Alexa a little at a time.

I cannot get my 2nd generation Chromecast authenticated for some reason, my Google Home app is up to date (3.32.69.2).

I performed a factory reset of the Chromecast because I hadn't used it in years and my Wi-Fi has changed etcetera.

When I open the Google Home app on my Google Pixel 6a it tells me that the Chromecast needs to be activated before setup. It tells me that I need to install the Device Utility app, but I cannot install that app on my phone because the Android version is too new.

When I install the Device Utility app on an older phone, that then tells me that it cannot be authenticated and I need to visit the support which is then sending me in circles.

Might it be because my Chromecast wasn't close to being up to date that I'm having these issues still?

prueba cmabiando la fecha del dispositivo (pixel 6 o el que sea) a una fecha anterior al  de febrero de 2025

I set the date on both phones before february 2025 and I could get the Chromecast connected to the Wi-Fi. I still cannot set it up in Google Home, but at least I can cast now!

Thank you for the tip!
