Error de autentificacion también!

I experienced intermittent casting the last few days. I did a factory reset and now it cannot authenticate when setting up.

Bye google!

The same problem here in japan

Same issue

Same 😐

Something happen with firmware or what ? , it also happen in Indonesia,  can not connect

Same here

I decided to setup my Gen2 today on one of my old tv's and faced this problem too. Just my luck that this issue seems to have happened today of all days! xD

For more clarity, here is a reddit post that can clarify that Google seems to be working on it:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Chromecast/comments/1j7caui/did_google_just_brick_the_2nd_gen_chromecast/

I believe that google implemented a Chromecast update but forgot to mention it

So it's a International issues happen, and still no solution from Google support ?

Having the same issue...really hope this isn't a matter of lost support and expecting us to fork out for another newer unit...

Same issue here. It was working fine in the morning. They should at least inform the users about the new changes.

Same here in Argentina

I'm having this same issue, couldn't cast to my Chromecast all day, did a factory reset, now it can't authenticate.

Steps to get a faster fix for chromecast issue:

I you have a pixel device you get priority support.  Go to your settings on phone.

-> Tips and support (prob last thing in settings)

-> Contact us

-> (subject) chromecast not connecting

->  when asked what device, select your phone model.

-> request a call back

-> when they call, tell them you have tried resetting etc it's a world wide problem, everyone around the world is reporting on Google forums, reddit etc that chromecast are off line and won't connect etc.

The person you speak to will email the Google chromecast team with your email address etc and they have to get back to you within 24 hours.

Same issue, wasted time rebooting router and factory setting chromecast multiple times.

Having the same issue since this morning.

Same- 2nd Gen that has worked fine for close to 10 yrs stopped linking to my Home, and now can't authenticate following a factory reset

I have a Gen2 and cannot authenticate. Help

Same. Worked fine this morning, then this afternoon it stopped playing anything. Tried a factory reset and now getting an authentication error

Me pasa lo mismo y lo quise reinstalas y da error de aitenticacion. Que pasa con este fallo general? Lo van a arreglar?

Happening in Australia as well.

Australia:  Yay🌼, my Chromecast Gen 2 is alive again!!!   I just completed the date wind back to 7 March 2025 in Settings on my Nokia phone (Android Version 14), ran Google Home to reconnect my Chromecast to my WIfi and dumb TV, saw an update progress bar on the TV (never seen before). Google home: "set up says it has a problem, update is taking longer than expected". I wait 5 minutes  no change, enter Help Centre none of the options fit me, exit Setup and put the date back to automatic. Open Google Home again and my Chromecast connected to my dumb TV is listed 👋.  Casting via my phone is working. 😺

Same here. I am from Brazil.

fix it

Looks like chromecast stop there services.

Same for me! Stopped working. After reboot, reset and even changing display device the chromecast couldn't be added back because of an authentication error...

Same problem here, cannot authenticate. Tried factory reset and everything, nothing seems to work. I have a Chromecast 2 gen

Same in my case. I get this....

We couldn't authenticate your
Chromecast.

Same here in California.

Me pasa lo mismo en mis 3 Chromecast mismo error. Mal Google.

Same here from Las Vegas, NV. I have my product Serial Number. I've rebooted 5 times to no avaiil. Someone mentioned to me that Google is deactivating the Chromecast devices of people who've been critical of Israel on Youtube or otherwise. Let me know what you think.

Google...does not care. Have any of you received any notice from Google saying anything about this issue? Time to dump Google.

Same problem.  Come on Google

Me pasa lo mismo, no autentica el chromcast, ya lo reinicié,  lo configuré de fabrica y nada, no lo puedo usar. Una c@g@d@ esto

Apparently an expired 10 year security certificate on 2nd Gen models

Same here. Must be a global issue

Same issue here.

Looking forward to a pointer to a firmware update we can send from our phone via Google home to Chromecast.
