Hey folks,
If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.
If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

This is only a short term fix. Once you turn automatic updates back on and Google home updates again, you'll still have trouble

On Android device long press the home icon. This will show update in menu. With the Chromecast attached and powered on bring up the HDMI that chromecast is plugged into. On mobile device update home app . Follow on screen instructions on mobile device. This will update app and resolve any issues with factory reset

Been a week now and still not working my tv is still showing no signal and it has been flashing orange for days or even weeks now and nothing is working, they are both connected to the same wifi, tried multiple hdmi slots, unplugged for a while, tried factory resetting but it's not even working and even when I hold it down it still blinks orange, okay reboot my wifi, still not working I don't know what do do anymore and I've updated my Google home too but I don't even have permission? To acess my home or something? All I want to do was watch a movie on my birthday, I'm tired and frustrated, do I need a new one or something? Cause it was working fine before

See if you can get an update, mine is working again, switch off and on, router reboot, check connection, should work again

How did you do it please….i have 2 dead tvs, no one here to help me not a techie person. I have strained my back trying to reach here and there, on and off, nothing. I am using cellphone, ridiculous. I do not know how to change date…where do you do that. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Did you reset to factory your chromcast? If you did I can tell you how to fix the problem. You don't have to change the date of your phone if the new version of Google home (3.30.1.6) is available for you. All I did was upgrading my app et following instructions, with my chromcast powered on.

Nelle impostazioni del cellulare funzione data e ora disattivi funzione automatica e imposti 7 marzo. poi attivi chromecast tramite google home seguendo le indicazioni. Infine rimetti il cellulare su data ora automatica

Sigue saliendo el mismo error no se detecta el Chromecast desde mi teléfono móvil he probado desde Android y también desde IOS.
Creo que ya hemos tenido suficiente paciencia.

Hola, he vuelvo a probar y ahora y por fin se ha conectado, parece ser que el Chromecast tenía el wifi sin el 5G y mi teléfono móvil lo tenía con 5G, es decir cuando seleccionas el wifi al que te conectas hay dos opciones que el nombre lleve al final 5G o no lo lleve, si el teléfono móvil y el Chromecast lo tienen distinto no se conecta.
Por si os puede servir.

Mine down for over 2 weeks now. They came in our neighborhood and blocked streets to put in Google Fiber and when they were done I was without 2 tvs and can’t use mybYTube with 100s of subscriptions! Then, after this nightmare, I got a postcard ad from Google Fiber to buy that now. I currently am on Spectrum just to stream YT, cannot afford cable any more.

Todavía sigo sin poder terminar el reestablecimiento de fabrica del Chromecast, no entiendo la desinformación de Google que cada dos semanas dicen poco y nada, seguimos con los inconvenientes. Les he escribido por varios medios y nadie me responde, en ningún de tooodos sus perfiles en diferentes plataformas, no hay respuesta, me gustaría ser informado de la situación, actualizado de como continúa gracias
