Hey folks,
If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.
If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Boa noite!
Faz 2 semanas que o problema ocorreu e até agora vcs não tem uma resposta! É claro que a maioria das pessoas q utilizam o aparelho, resetou, como eu fiz! Resetei a internet, a TV e quase resetei o celular, até entende q o problemas era no Chromecast.
Fico no aguardo para uma solução

Hola todos, estoy leyendo que algunos Chromecast ya están activos. ¿qué pasa con los Chromecast que fueron reseteados de fábrica?, ¿ya podemos reactivarlos?.
Ese es mi caso: El dispositivo que tengo es un Chromecast gen2 comprado en otro país, así lo estuve utilizando sin que me de problemas hasta el fatídico día domingo 9 de marzo que dejó de funcionar, y el mensaje era: ' El DISPOSITIVO FUE DISEÑADO PARA OTRO PAIS, ES PROBABLE QUE NO FUNCIONE'... era la primera vez que me salió este error. Pregunta: ¿Podré reactivarlo?, ¿qué puedo hacer? ¿ya salió la solución para los Chromecast gen2 que fueron reseteados?

coloca la fecha antes de el 8 de marzo de 2025 de tu telefono entra a home y puedes configurar, inicialmente no te va a dejar transmitir desconecta la energía del chromecast y vuelve a conectar ya nada mas es esperar que se instale la actualizacion automaticamente, si te cargan las imagenes de espera es buena señal quiere decir q esta conectado a internet y te dejara actualizar pero es automatico te recomiendo colocar la zona de donde se compró el dispositivo

Maybe this will help someone, I finally got my chromecast to work I was one of those people who factory reset everything… I changed my date back to March 7th, (I had tried this before and did not work) once I changed the date my chrome reset and updated. My chrome seemed connected because I could see Google photos but still couldn’t cast I changed the date back to today, unplugged and plugged back the chrome and finally it worked! Hope this will help someone!

unfortunately I did factory reset my Chromecast but there is still a way to get it back up and running since Google rolled out the fix! follow these steps:
Disable automatic time and date and then set your device date to anything prior to March 9 2025
Disable the data option on your phone (this will ensure you connect to the Chromecast temporary wifi during setup)
follow the setup instructions on Google home app - note : I hate to turn off wifi on my phone and turn it back on to get the Google home app to connect my Chromecast again
