Just to compound my woes with this problem.

While doing my original fault finding before any notification, not only did I factory reset the device but also deleted it from Home. Therefore, I cannot even attempt the current semi-fix as Home can only find the device but "cannot communicate with the device".

Obviously I was being a bit too thorough but I'm a bit stuffed now! Hopefully their fix will cover this as well.

  • Go to your android settings
  • Search day and time or scroll to find it
  • Take automatic date and time off
  • Choose day before u did reset cast device i Choese 05.03.2025
  • Open google home and connect device get update for cast. Done
  • Remember to change your date to automatic after your cast is set.

Same here.. I deleted the device! Waiting for a reply

How old is this Google message??

In top of that, the speakers start screaming on its own telling me to report it to Google. But Google is nowhere to be seen… or contacted. Unbelievable!

Google Display?… useless!

Why did I buy these speakers ?? They are controlled by Google, and Google is missing in action!

Tried the following "

  1. Under "Technical information," check for Cast firmware version: "X.XXX.XXXXX." If it's a display, check for Fuchsia Version: "X.XXXXXXXX.X.XXXXXXX."

Not for CCA2 ? Nothing appears in the app at this point.

Hi everyone,

If you factory reset your Chromecast (2nd Gen or Chromecast Audio) and now you can’t set it up because it shows the message “Connection problem”, here’s a solution that worked for me:

Steps to fix the issue

1️⃣ Change your phone’s date to March 6, 2025 (or a day before the issue started).

2️⃣ Open the Google Home app and try setting up your Chromecast as a new device.

3️⃣ Once the Chromecast connects, it will automatically download Google’s update.

4️⃣ After the update is complete, set your phone’s date back to the current day.

🔹 That’s it! Your Chromecast should now work correctly.

💡 Note: This solution may work because changing the date prevents the device from detecting the expired certificate, allowing it to connect to Google’s servers and update.

omg i cant belive it worked thank you so much you're a hero bro

I GOT YOU MY GIRL!!  So first what you do IF you have an android, on the top right corner of your phone you go to settings, then touch general management, then go where it says date and time and touch the automatic date and time and turn it off, and then set the time to march 7

Yesssssss IT WORKED 💪 YAYYYYY!!!
