Trouble setting up 4K Chromecast on phone through google home app

Hello,

If anyone can help, I’ve been having no luck setting up my Chromecast for the last two hours. I’ve had it for less than a month and when I initially set it up, I set it up using the remote. Now that I want to use my phone to cast things, I had to factory reset because the device wasn’t showing up as a casting option. I’ve factory reset and I was starting to think I was getting somewhere but I keep hitting a wall. Using the Google Home app, I keep going in a loop of getting to the connection page, once I do it says that both my phone and the Chromecast connected but then “something went wrong” and it says that the Chromecast is connected but that it “cannot communicate with my phone”. I’ve tried to set it up on my iPad and I ended up getting the same message. I’ve reset the Chromecast and my wifi router, nothing changed. Local access is enabled on my phone and still nothing. The only possible solution I am seeing is to connect manually to the Chromecast SSID, however, when I try, it asks for a password and I don’t know what the password could be.

Is there a way to find out what my Chromecast SSID password would be? Is there anything I can do? Should I try to exchange for a different device? Please if anyone has a solution, let me know, this has been really frustrating.

I’ve attached a screenshot of the message I keep getting IMG_0232.PNG

That error message essentially means your phone can't communicate with your Chromecast, and there are a number of reasons this can occur. I'd recommend trying these steps:

Have you ever successfully setup your Chromecast what that Wifi network?

What happened when you tried step 3 with the alternate setup steps?

When I purchased the device for the first time, the operation was successful

But after the update and factory reset the device, I can no longer connect the device to the program

Today I discovered another problem

It is my inability to connect the remote control with the TV

Same thing is happening to me! I can no longer connect my remote to my tv after the factory reset either. It keeps saying “something went wrong”. It’s very frustrating, I feel like I’ve tried everything.

I think it’s happening to all chromcast with android 12 after reset factory the device 😭😭

maybe we should wait until release next update 🤔

Google is aware of an issue where some Chromecast with Google TV users might have trouble configuring Infrared (IR) buttons on the Voice Remote (volume, power, and input). As a workaround, you can use your original TV remote and can subscribe to the topic below for further updates.
