Why won’t my Google Nest play the correct Spotify playlist?

I’ve been running into a super frustrating issue with Spotify on my Nest speakers lately. Whenever I say something like “Hey Google, play my Chill Vibes playlist on Spotify”, it either tells me it can’t find it, or it just plays something completely random. Sometimes it’s another playlist with a similar name, other times it’s some random station I’ve never even listened to.

The weird thing is, these playlists are definitely in my Spotify library and have been there for ages. If I open Spotify on my phone and cast them to the speaker, they play perfectly. So it really just seems to be a problem with the voice commands. I’ve already double-checked that Spotify is set as my default music service, and even tried re-linking my account in the Google Home app.

  • Are you using an iPhone or Android device to control your speakers?
  • Is your smartphone's operating system updated?
  • After retraining the voice match, what is the behavior of the Google Assistant with other commands?
  • Are you having the same issue with other Spotify playlists or only with a specific playlist?
  • Were you able to play your speakers with a different Spotify account to check if you have the same inconvenience?
  • Are you using a Spotify Premium account?
  • If you already reset your speakers, could you please describe how you performed the speakers reset?
