Wife cannot play show through voice command

When I say "play modern family on tv" it plays the next episode. When my wife says the same command it opens up the app to view the latest episode but does not play it. How does my wife make an episode play using voice commands?

We are both part of the same family group that the Chromecast with Google TV is part of. We have tried other command like ""press play" or "continue watching". My wife and I both have set up voice match. I have tried searching for other similar problems but not success searching. I have unplugged the Chromecast for a minute. Is there a setting we are missing?

Thanks for sharing details about the issue here. I know how challenging it is when something is not working on your Chromecast with Google TV. To confirm, has it worked before? What video service provider is she trying to use to play the TV series? Does she have her own account linked?

Please try removing and re-adding your wife's account on the Google Home app. Let's see if your device will have the same behavior when playing videos via voice command.
