Hello.
My wifi was disconnected yesterday as the Ethernet cable snapped. I logged into Chromecast with hotspot, worked fine. Now my WiFi is up again, the chromecast wont connect anymore via WiFi. I heard that hotspotting can cause set up issue in the future. I’ve tried everything to deleting and setting up the account again. Resetting WiFi and factory setting the chromcast but nothing is working. Can anyone please help?

Hi Joy89,
Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. We’re sorry for the trouble, and this is not the experience that we wanted you to have. This is the first time I heard about this “hotspotting can cause setup issues in the future” claim. Technical-wise, it’s not even possible. It may coincidentally happen due to a possible network issue. Some users usually fix this by factory resetting their router, but we don’t suggest it, especially if the user doesn't know how. You can isolate this by setting it up on another Wi-Fi network. The fact that the Chromecast device is working on your mobile hotspot means it’s working as intended because hotspot is also Wi-Fi named differently due to the difference in technology used.
I hope this clarifies the confusion. Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Kimy
