When trying to open the YouTube TV app (which I pay a hefty monthly subscription for), the app simply opens to the start screen and then reverts back to the Google TV home screen within 5 seconds). I have cleared cache and data, uninstalled and reinstalled, and of course restarted the Google Streamer with a soft restart and by pulling the plug for 60 seconds and plugging back in. I power cycled the router as well. I have not factory reset the Google TV Streamer box yet but was hoping to avoid that. The app is up to date per the Google Play store on the device. Has anyone run into problems with Youtube TV? All other apps are functioning properly and my account is active as it works on other devices perfectly fine.

Hi KnoxRensts,
Thank you for posting in the community. I understand that when you try to open the YouTube TV app, the app simply opens and then reverts to the Google TV home and I apologize for any inconvenience caused. I'm happy to help you!
To help me find the best solution, I'll need to ask you a few questions:
Choose All settings and then System and then About and then System update.
Keep me posted.
Best regards,
Rusell.

Hi Russell,
I am seeing the same issue as above. All other apps work. All other TV's open YouTube TV. All are on the same network. I did everything mentioned above, including the factory reset. After the factory reset, I was able to open YouTube TV, however after a restart it would not open again.

I am having the exact same issue with YouTubeTV on the Google Streamer. Has anyone found a solution?

Same problem. Every other app works. YouTube tv will work on my firestick in the other room but not on the google streamer 4k in the living room.

Hi there,
Thank you for the update. I'm sorry to hear that you're having the same inconvenience with your Google TV Streamer because the YouTube TV app isn't opening as it usually should. It’s a pleasure to assist you.
For now, i'd like to ask you some questions:

I found the fix for mine. I use Bluetooth speakers, but for some reason I have to select HDMI for sound choice in the settings of the streamer, then open you tube tv, and after that return to the settings and select Bluetooth speakers again. I have to do this once a day on start up.

This worked for me too. Sure is inconvenient though.

I'll give this a try. I use Bluetooth speakers as well. It would be nice to have a fix where I don't have to get up off the couch!

This worked for me as well. Hopefully a software fix will be released soon.

Thanks for doing the troubleshooting. I haven't tried it yet but I'm willing to bet this will fix my issue as well. I use bluetooth ear buds when I watch and work out. I'll definitely give this a try!

Hi Russell. Thanks for the reply. Streamer is up to date. I have cleared the cache, uninstalled and reinstalled YouTubeTV, and restarted the streamer. Only thing I was trying to avoid is a factory reset. Are you asking if I have tried another YouTubeTV account? Or Google Account?
Thanks.

I too am having an issue with the streamer 4k. Unlike the other posters the app opens up and requests me to log in. When I click on my user icon I get a message stating that two profiles are registered for the device, me and my grandson. When I click on my profile the app just freezes, no forward, backward or exit options can be achieved. To get out of the app I have to return the Google TV home screen via the remote control button. I've cleared data, cache and uninstalled and reinstalled the app but nothing has changed. Rather than a factory reset (which I don't want to do), I cannot see any other way of fixing it. Given the number of people who are experiencing issues with the app on the streamer perhaps it might be an app issue. YouTube is working fine on our 4 other Chromecast devices but it doesn't seem to like working with Google's new streaming device. P.S. All other streaming apps are working fine without any issues.

i am having the exact same issue as ragnar0k. i can't move forward after selecting my profile.

I have this exact same issue. Tells me what profiles are registered (myself and my son)
But I can't select anything or go back. Don't bother about a factory reset, I done that last night and it still didn't fix the problem.
Ironic that Google's own app doesn't work on its own hardware but works fine on other devices.
Im wondering if the issue is linked to the child profiles on the account maybe.
But I think it's safe to say they have a wider problem.

I factory reset yet again and it worked for the YouTube TV app worked for one night before failing again this morning. At this point, Google clearly has no answers or updates so it will be be best to get rid of mouth of my Google TV 4K boxes and switch from YouTube TV back to HULU. It's an embarrassing shame that Google can't even develop apps that are compatible with their own hardware and operating systems.

I was able to find the solution on Reddit. Apparently my Bluetooth speaker is the cause of the Youtube TV app not starting. No wonder it was so confusing because I've never seen a peripheral affect an individual application and not the operating system as a whole. Disconnecting the Bluetooth speaker allowed the app to open.

Glad you found the solution to yours, I think many others have a different issue where as they can open the app but can't actually sign in to their profile.

OMG I'm so happy I came across this thread. I too was having the same issue as everyone else. Streambox worked perfectly in my living room until I moved it to my bedroom when I gotten the hazel unit for the living room. It's crazy having a Bluetooth speaker connected would make such an issue.

I'm having the same problem. I can't watch You Tuve TV on my newly purchased Google TV streamer. I just bought the most recent model that cost me $100. I think the Chromecast manufacturers should address this. My Amazon Firestick works on other TVs without any issues.

Do you use a Bluetooth speaker connected to your steamer?
