google tv remote not letting me confirm tv power button is working

I have a Chrome cast on a Dynex TV that has Google TV. When i go to set up the remote controls the tv it works for the sound and input but will not work for the power.  When I go to set up the power button it says to push the button and wait 8 seconds and then to push it again.  This does work the tv turns off and then comes back on but I do not get the option to confirm it so it just stays on the setup page till I back out. Any Ideas

Since you've mentioned that the TV doesn't provide an option to confirm if it's already set up, I suggest the following steps:

 

  • Update software: Ensure your mobile software version and the Google Home app are up-to-date.
  • Restart router: Restart your router and update its firmware if necessary. Sometimes, routers have bugs that can be fixed with firmware updates.
  • Try different HDMI ports: Experiment with different HDMI ports on your TV.
  • Change power outlet: Try plugging the Chromecast into a different power outlet.
