I wouldn't go that far. Again, on Android, there are volume settings for individual components - ringer, headset, media - PLUS the master volume. Kind of like on Windows. You have to make sure media is not set to low/off.

I found that my media volume was set low - I had to increase that, and THEN adjust the system volume (buttons) to actually hear something. Quite dumb.
