Is there anyway to do a factory reset on a Nest thermostat if it's not attached to the base?

Hello,I had a faulty Nest thermostat and so I received a replacement - I need to return the original to Google. Unfortunately the HVAC guy took it off the base and did not do a factory reset. Is there anyway to do a factory reset if it's not attached...
