Apple HomePod as Climate Device

I know you can’t use Google to set up an Apple HomePod. I have Apple Home for that. I have a Nest Learning Thermostat and unfortunately, Google has chosen NOT to update this generation to the Matter architecture so I can’t use the Nest on my Apple Home app. That means Im forced to stay with Google for device control. I have a HomePod Mini 2nd or 3rd gen (can’t remember which but doesn’t matter for this question). I live in a basement suite and we use the Nest thermostat to allow me to change the temperature without bothering the upstairs tenant. Now that the temperature sensor in the HomePod has been enabled, I’d like to use the HomePod as a temperature sensing device in Google Home so I can have the furnace kick in either when the thermostat or my HomePod detect a low temperature. Anybody know if this is possible yet or even on the development roadmap?

thanks for any help you can give.
