B-Hyve Sprinklers display as “Stopped” on Home display

Ronmanster

Working fine in B-hyve app on IOS iPad, but after linked into Google Home Automation, they show up as “Stopped” with no control and linking to a Home App page that states device is not responding.  The sprinkler hub/gateway is connected via WiFi, and went through its new device authorization firestorm by asking what room, etc.  Shows up, just labeled as “Stopped”.  I’m out of pitch, stick, and ideas.

anyone seen or heard of this?

Hi Ronmanster,

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us.

A few things: Is it the first time that you are linking B-Hyve app or it was linked before? Are you able to control it via voice command? Do you have other third party devices linked to your Google Home app? If so, are they working fine?

You can unlink and relink B-Hyve and observe if it will make a difference. Check out the steps below for guidance.

Unlink:

  1. Make sure your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as the speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app .
  3. Tap account (your initial or your profile picture).
  4. Verify the Google Account on screen is the one linked to the speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap the down arrow icon and then choose another account or Add another account .
  5. Select Assistant Settings and then Home Control.
  6. Under Linked services, tap the home automation partner and then Unlink account and then Unlink.

Relink:

  6. Tap the Search box, type the name of the Home Automation partner then link the account.
  • Note: If the home automation account is listed under Linked Services, tap “Reconnect account” then follow the on-screen instructions.

Keep me posted.

Thanks,

Juni

My B-Hyve account is based on a different email address, so I am changing that to the same as my Google account.  Once done, I will let you know how it works.  Probably tonight or tomorrow.

Hi Ronmanster

Thanks for the update. Let us know once you've tried a different Google account. It would help a lot if it's with a Gmail domain.

Thanks,

Dan

Dan,

I deleted my old b-hyve account and created a new one with my Google Account email address.  However, the Google account address is a mac.com address.  Since then, I’ve re-linked the sprinkler and hub to Home, but it still displays as “stopped”, and I have no Google Home access to control it.  I am able to control it on the B-hyve app just fine though.

Hi Ronmanster,

A Google account with a Gmail domain is recommended. We understand that this step is a little out of the way, but it's a great way to check if your devices are communicating with each other.

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Dan

I thought I had followed up yesterday, but I don’t see my response.  I bought a Nest Hub and have had mixed results.  While the iPad Home app still shows the b-hyve as stopped, the Nest is able to eventually control the b-hyve after several attempts.  Although the Nest also show a top level screen “box” indicating status is ”loading” indefinitely, when pressed - it appears able to control the sprinkler on and off.  Once the Nest is able to control the b-hyve, I’ve got positive control of it with the iPad also - but only for a few hours before it reverts back to “stopped”.  If I were to guess, either the b-hyve has no ability to “Wake-On-LAN”, or the IPad Home app doesn’t send that ENet command.  Still not performing well at all.  After installing an additional A21 light (Phillips - native control through Wiz app) in a bedroom, it also has the same symptoms as the b-hyve - with the exception of reporting “offline”.  It must be said that both devices, or their hub, are located in the same bedroom.  The home wifi extender pod is practically on top of the devices (20 ft. Maximum).

still looking for ideas.

Hi Ronmanster,

Got it. To isolate, try to use another device and observe if it will make a difference.

Juni, I shall indeed try that.  I will move the B-hyve hub to a position where it is under direct WiFi comms with the gateway, not the extender.  If the results remain the same, I shall then add and use a second b-hyve hub to see if I have the same results.  As a note on my previous comment about the Phillips A21 light that would appear offline (but contollable by the native Wiz app) after a day of inactivity through Google home, it is now reporting consistently after having removed and reinstalled from its native app.
