Nest camera replay crashes google home app

I am not the first - I see this has been an ongoing problem for years.  What good is having a security camera if watching the footage causes the app to crash?  Every single time.  It worked for a while.  “Did you try…?”  Yes.  Everything is updated, reset, closed and reopened, etc.  

Google?  Nest?  Time to step up!

My pleasure, sort of,  Maybe they have a developer's forum... I could look... like I have the time LOL

 

So I did some more tracing and tracking timings.  Five minutes almost exactly, from the I started live view on both MacOS and IOS, Live streaming of all four views went black.  All at basically the same time.

They are a startup going through growing pains

Hey look kids - you are on video…nm apparently the video doesn’t work and the app somehow crashes so hard my phone is inaccessible. Isn’t this a new app? Yes. Isn’t this a new camera? Yes. Why won’t it work?  I don’t know…maybe we can see it on a browser?

The home app is repeatedly crashing and stalling during video playback. It’s been doing this for a while now and it’s very frustrating. Also the app deletes the video cache long before the 3 hours has been reached. This has been such a bad experience with nest camera and Google home. What’s the point if you can’t play back what’s been recorded. I’m not sure why it’s taking so long to fix since it seems like a lot of people are having the same issues. Please get this fixed soon.

The 3.10.103 version of the Google Home app seems to have fixed the problem with the app crashing during video playback. It became available in the App Store 2 days ago.

Ever since Google forced us onto their app things have steadily gotten worse. I have 8 of the cameras and as they age out I will NEVER get another google product. It’s obvious that quality products and customer service aren’t part of big techs plan.

Well all was working fine until today, now the old problem of the history play back is going black again and sometimes my iPad freezes after the screen goes black. Anyone have the same problem?

My iPad and iPhone replay video with no crashing or blackouts since last update. Sometimes I do get the spinning wheel while it seems to be buffering data, after several seconds replay resumes.

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. Try restarting your Nest Cameras and Wi-Fi router to refresh their connections to the Nest servers. Also, don't forget to reinstall your Google Home app and let us know how it goes.
