2 cameras won’t connect to WiFi

I have 2 cameras that I have factory reset 10+ times trouble shooting trying to get them on my WiFi. Even got a brand new modem. Still won’t connect. After the new modem came I had to readd door

bell and another camera which were done successfully first try. Now the 2 remaining STILL won’t connect. I’m sitting right beside the modem. Used q r code tried without q r code. Factory reset. I’m just wondering what. If anything am I missing before I toss them? They aren’t even a year old….they were removed from my home app already too. I’m sorry I am just so frustrated

And both cameras have the blue light upon resetting. I just now connected my wired camera to my WiFi and when I looked at all of the cameras they are now offline I press retry and nothing happens. I’m to old for this.

Which cameras do you actually have?

If you have the Google Nest Outdoor Camera (as indicated in your post), then it can only be installed in the Google Nest app and NOT the Google Home app (as indicated in your post), but the Google Nest Outdoor Camera can only be factory reset by removing it from the Google Nest app while it is still online with your old Wi-Fi network.

If you have the Google Nest Battery Camera, before trying to reinstall it in the Google Home app, you need to make sure that you do a "factory reset" (holding the reset button down until the status light blinks yellow four times at about 10 seconds with a countdown tone, and then the status light turns a steady yellow at about 12 seconds, followed by a countdown tone), and not just a "restart" (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9252162).

Good morning, those two that im trying to set up are 2nd generation outdoor cameras. They need to be charged periodically when that time came I brought them in and charged them. Attempted to get them back up but the app said they were offline. I tried troubleshooting to get back online and couldn’t get them to work so I just did a factory reset and I still couldn’t get them to work so they sat in my kitchen for about a month. My modem ended up broken so I bought another one and thought I’d try again and I can’t figure it out. I’ll try to add them through the nest app. Hopefully that works. I’ll come back to let you know. Thanks for replying quickly ☺️

2nd gen cameras and doorbells CANNOT be added through the Google Nest app.

If the cameras have been sitting in your kitchen for a month, they MIGHT need charging.  Or, as I suggested earlier, the factory resets were not successful.

Good morning again, the cameras were charged before attempting to add them each to my WiFi through Google home. I thought that when we see the blue light and hear the Google chime during reset to factory settings indicates that it’s in fact factory reset? So,  is there a way to reset the camera other than holding down the button with a pin for 10 seconds? Because I’ve heard the Google chime and the light is blue.

Hello everyone,

@October1973, thanks for reaching out to the Community. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with the Nest cameras. Don’t worry, help’s here.

  1. Save any video history from the camera, if any. Follow this guide.
  2. Unmount the Nest camera, and then locate the reset pinhole on the device.
  3. Insert and hold the pin (you can use an unfolded paper clip or a thumbtack).
    1. At 10 seconds, the status light will blink yellow four times, and you’ll hear a countdown tone.
    2. At 12 seconds, the status light will be steady, solid yellow while the device starts the factory reset, and you’ll hear a confirmation tone.
  4. Release the button. Your device will be restored to its factory settings.
  5. After the factory reset, your device will appear as "offline" in the app until you remove it. Also, the status light should be pulsing blue. If not, repeat step 3.
  6. To remove it from the app, open the app, then tap Settings > Remove Device > Confirm.
  7. Make sure the phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the selected network for the Nest device.
  8. Bluetooth should be enabled, but it should not be connected to any Bluetooth devices. Disconnect any Bluetooth devices paired to your phone, such as earbuds, smartwatches, etc.
  9. Cellular data should be turned off.
  10. For iOS devices, tap Settings > Privacy > Local Network and turn on Local Network Access for the Home app.
  11. Start adding the device back to the app.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Regards,

Lance
