Do Nest products not work with client steering? Is there a solution?

Been struggling with this for a while.

Do nest products not work with client steering?  I've been trying to set up my nest outdoor wifi cam all day.  It is literally sitting 1 foot unimpeded from my Eero wifi extender ... but instead of choosing the close extender, it keeps going to one of my other extenders further away ... resulting in a bad connection.

I know it isn't Eero, since my other 20+ devices all manage to connect to the closest mesh node.  Just my nest don't seem to do this ( my nest thermostats also don't always choose the best node, although at least they work ).

Is there a solution to this?  It's really really frustrating and is 'only' my nest products having the issue.

I have been using (3) Euros and many next cams for a few years now and it seems to work fine.  However the Nest HELLO doorbell refused to connect to the closest one.   You might try going into the Eero app and making sure the Client Steering is in fact turned ON.  And if it is turn it off for about 30 minutes and see if anything changes.  Then turn it back on.....  just a guess at this point.

Thanks for posting in our Community, and I’m sorry for the inconvenience. A few questions: what type of Nest outdoor camera do you have? Are you using an Android or iOS device? Were you able to connect the Nest device to this Wi-Fi extender before? Also, are you using the Google Home or Nest app?

 

While we don’t have any information about client steering for Nest devices, this handy guide may help.
