Does the type of adapter you use affect battery life

I recently bought a nest doorbell and the first two times I charged it off of my laptop/dock. The battery would only last one week, even after I set all the settings to maximize battery life. The third time I charged the battery off a wall outlet and it’s now giving me two months of battery.

Not sure whether the type of adapter you use to charge your device has an impact, could also just be the device learning how to better optimize battery. If you’ve been having battery issues mayve try this out and see if it helps?

It is possible that you have a faulty device. I would reach out to support and see if you can get a warranty replacement if you are still within warranty.

Best regards,

Brad.

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I can definitely understand how frustrating your situation must be, but I wanted to make sure that your issue was addressed. Your camera should have come with a power adapter. You should use that to charge your device. Depending on if it is installed as a wired device, or as just battery will determine the outcome.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Hi Brad, thanks for checking in. Unfortunately, even after charging with the provided adapter, our Nest's battery life is still woefully short, often needing a new charge every 5 days. We have set all possible setting to lowest battery saving, and we live in SF so it's not particularly cold. I wonder if we have a defective battery?
